Tell me your lifestyle creeps

NOT a goady thread - meant as lighthearted fun!
If you earn well now tell me what your lifestyle creeps are? Those nice little extras that you yourself might have rolled your eyes at or have never entertained previously! Even better if you tell us the ones that aren’t worth it!

mine below:

Marks and Spencer for the food shop
Fancy makeup brands - not sure these are value for the money but I’m a SUCKER for the packaging!
Cashmere or silk socks - WORTH it!
High thread count bedding
Expensive skin care - genuinely think has made a difference 🤞

This thread has brought me so much joy and so many good ideas. I now have a wish list as long as my arm. (The varicose veins & the Christmas decorator & regular handyman are genius)

My non negotiables are good sheets (John Lewis Pima cotton).

Having grown up with very little it’s hard to change my mindset about always getting the cheapest (I look for the yellow stickers in M&S constantly) and even if I can afford more it doesn’t sit easy with me.
Same goes for holidays, I look for the cheapest flight and then backpack around. I’d like to be able to indulge a bit more without feeling guilty.

i’m using all your ideas as my “homework” 😜.

i did come up with a couple of new ideas though

  • Jo Malone bubble bath & candles
  • Aesop handwash and hand cream

A daily cleaner/housekeeper who does all my laundry.

oh my god. I’m so jealous. This is definitely my ultimate dream.

Does she put away the laundry? This is my fall down every time.

I cannot follow, i am a sucker for good valued items.

mel78y5 · 22/02/2026 08:22

@Pryceosh1987who says we’re not talking about good value? I still seek good value, but not at the cost of quality (and at the end of the day if something isn’t good quality, it’s not good value). I’m an excellent bargain hunter, just one with higher standards these days!

Mine too! I manage to wash and dry clothes, but they end up in piles for days…

what should I look for when trying to find a new washing fairy?

My dream is to have someone come in and change our bedding. That’s my least favourite chore. We have a cleaner, but assume this is more of a housekeeping task!

HamBap · 22/02/2026 09:40

Yorkshire teabags, and decent decaf tea bags. I'm not buying cheap tea bags ever again.

In awe at the business class flights people, that would be my ultimate 'I've truly made it' purchase 😁

  • Airport lounges;
  • Monthly beautician visits;
  • Freshly baked bread from the bakers;
  • Matching bra and knickers.

How’s that for as diverse selection?

I asked my cleaner and she does it for me. In all 4 bedrooms.
absolute bliss!!!
in my experience cleaners will do anything reasonable, as long as it can be done within the time they are being paid for.

mel78y5 · 22/02/2026 10:38

@SchoolDilemmas123interesting, we only have 3 hours a fortnight currently so would probably need to go to 4, but maybe something I will consider.

ChocolateHobbit · 22/02/2026 12:36

It's funny, I'm always checking prices in the supermarket, sacked our cleaner to save money, and buy clothes off Vinted as I refuse to pay full price for a pair of Nikes.

Yet we don't think twice about booking business class if we fly long haul.
