Tell me your lifestyle creeps

NOT a goady thread - meant as lighthearted fun!
If you earn well now tell me what your lifestyle creeps are? Those nice little extras that you yourself might have rolled your eyes at or have never entertained previously! Even better if you tell us the ones that aren’t worth it!

mine below:

Marks and Spencer for the food shop
Fancy makeup brands - not sure these are value for the money but I’m a SUCKER for the packaging!
Cashmere or silk socks - WORTH it!
High thread count bedding
Expensive skin care - genuinely think has made a difference 🤞

Comfortable shoes that don’t let in when it rains. A decent coat that actually keeps me warm and dry…I don’t mist on my younger years either wet feet and feeling miserable. Although in told my mum what dirty in decent boots she’d be appalled. I am willing to spend money on quality items though.

David Lloyd. I used to dread the weekly kids swim lessons at the grotty local leisure centre. Now I sit and watch my children learn to swim from the comfort of a jacuzzi, the changing rooms are clean, and afterwards they go an exhaust themselves in the soft play while I sit with a drink and a book

100% real linen bed linen. Tumbled if possible. Love it when crumpled up. Delicious. Not so much the expense of products, but time to dedicate to a proper skin routine. I used to be incredulous, laughing, at people who paid hundreds for bags. I now have four or five balenciagas, a Chanel flap, camera bag and a tote, Chloe, celine and my dog walking bag is a woven leather limited edition PS1. Latest is a bir kin. Dubarry boots and yes, natural fibre clothes. A decent sofa. Yes to soap! French milled goats milk, aleppo. Couldn’t afford any of this when younger!

Spending as much on a yurt at the festival we go to each year for 4 nights (proper beds, power point etc) as some people spend on a Summer holiday.
Buying my weekly bottle of wine because i like it and not because its on offer.
Buying my favourite shower gel when i need it and not waiting until we go to the factory outlet !

VibesCurator · 13/02/2026 21:07

Cleaner. My mother would be horrified

Mt563 · 13/02/2026 21:12

Love a proper leather handbag and natural fibre clothes. Loving my new car, first ever actually bought new. Definitely some creep in food, eating out and takeaway. But no fancy skincare and happy to stay in a hostel still. It's all a balance right.

I've thought of another one. Yarn. I buy an alpaca / silk blend at £12 for 50g rather than acrylic. Its worth every penny.

100% linen bed linen. Lying down in a freshly made bed of it never gets old 😆

Love the idea of a grift drawer 😁

Making hot chocolate with real chocolate, not a packet of dust. Admittedly aldi chocolate, but it's better quality than lots of more expensive options.

Private dentist. I literally don't know what would have happened to my teeth without it.

Taxis/Uber to everywhere. Not that I go far as I can't really afford a journey of more than about 20 quid each way. So not very often. And I'm too scared to go to unfamiliar places.

Not meant to be snarky, but if that's true would spending money on therapy rather than taxis (or as well as) not be a good idea?

ChoccyHobknob · 13/02/2026 21:45

Am not hugely better off but I now make sure I invest in good shoes (leather soles) and a decent wool coat.

If we have a little more coming in, I get my eyelashes dyed and permed, and I may buy the nice peanut butter 🤣

Pricelessadvice · 13/02/2026 22:04

Decent wellies and yard boots. I don’t scrimp on footwear for the yard. I need my feet to be warm and dry and that means paying for it.

It sounds very snarky.

I can't afford both. And why wouldn't it be true?

I agree with the PP TBH. If I couldn’t afford both I’d concentrate on the therapy so that I wasn’t too scared to go to unfamiliar places. It must be quite life limiting.

AnotherCuppaWillDo · 13/02/2026 22:09

Mine is M&S food shopping too. I’ve been reading a lot about UPFs recently and their food really is much better quality when you look at the ingredients, so I justify it as an investment in my health long term
oh and botox 😅

ZoeyBartlett · 13/02/2026 22:12

Silk duvet and sheets - so worth it.
never sit further than 5 rows back at theatre/shows - I like to see their faces.
business class flights.

Sorry I wasn't asking for advice. However well meaning. There are lots of reasons why I'm not currently in therapy and I don't think this is where I'd like to discuss it.

No need to apologise, I wasn’t asking why you aren’t in therapy or asking you to discuss it. I was just saying what I’d do in that situation.

Being able to go full on "Toad of Toad Hall" when it comes to buying equipment my hobbies.

I’m sure that my whole lifestyle would be considered to be decadent and wanky by female ancestors.

Just because it's very extreme not to go anywhere unfamiliar and I wasn't sure whether I'd somehow misconstrued and it wasn't meant to be a serious comment.

It wasn't intended to be snarky, but it's up to you how you choose to interpret what I wrote - just as it's up to you, of course, whether you choose to have therapy.

Drove a banger around London for years until my partner pointed out I could afford a new car. Omg game changer !! Heated seats, like sitting on a sofa. A 5 hour journey feels like 2 hours I love it !!
