Will it ever stop raining?

I moved from Manchester to London 30 years ago and have generally been pleased with how much drier it is down here. But it feels like it’s been raining forever now and it’s forecast to continue. It’s so boring having to take your umbrella everywhere. My memory’s not the best but I can’t remember when it’s last rained for so long.

I hope the summer is drier but who knows? ☔️

It’s driving me slowly round the bend. Day after day after day of grey and wet. Urgh. One nice day Wednesday now back to this for the foreseeable future. Utterly sick of it. Just makes me want to go to bed

I feel the same! On top of that, I lost my trusted umbrella and got all soaked yesterday. Got a new umbrella for today. Hoping for a little break.
Praying for flooding to stay well away. The river is to its highest level and it looks so scary! Not seen large puddles on the roads yet, so hopefull.

Oh dear, that sounds worrying. Fingers crossed it doesn’t overflow.

See I don’t post on Facebook much anymore but yesterday the memories bit showed me that in the south east for 3 years on that day, I’d bother to post and mentioned snow. One of toddler DS talking about the snow (he’s now 16), one about being annoyed at the grey sludge in London a few days after the snow. One about debating if it was worth doing the ironing on a Sunday night because it was unlikely south eastern trains would be running the following morning. This is pretty snow and cold temps time of year.

I want snow. Or cold winds but dry. This isn’t February weather.

Yes, cold would feel normal for February. Not this bleak dampness.

Yep. Boring the hell out of me and makes me lethargic.

We did have a very dry spring and summer last year though. So I assume that a dry winter would have been bad news (in terms of water levels etc).

Same here in Northern Ireland. Apparently January was the wettest January in over 100 years. Midterm break next week and the forecast shows rain every day. We were told with global warming we'd get warmer and wetter weather so can't see it changing anytime soon. 😭

Near where I live the local town flooded before Christmas, due to the river banks bursting. Many of the shops are still closed due to the extreme damage caused. Since then we're bracing ourselves in weeks like this where the rain has hardly stopped, night and day, lashing down at times.

it does feel like the whole of January and into February it had been incessant. I dream of the 6 months of dry weather we had last summer, it was like being on holiday. Oh well I guess the reservoirs are now full which is something!

Urghhh, I feel the same!! It’s been relentless hasn’t it. Feels like it’s been raining since about October. The blue sky on Wednesday was so lovely - we want more!

Also in London and the forecast for rain is for the next 10 days at least and it seems like it's already been raining for 100 years 🤣

It makes me really not want to go outside which in itself is so unhealthy. Yuck.

Its so grim looking at the forecast and seeing weeks of rain.
Better not be hosepipe bans this summer after all of this

It isn't February westher, this warm' grey and very wet landscape. I'm fed up of dirty puddles, the wet dog smell indoors and how hard everyday tasks become as yiu navigate the wet.

I feel for all those flooded out. Sadly, this is our reality. We were warned global warming means warmer and wetter winters.

It's hard when you're working with children when it's like this. Wet, muddy, cold, grey. Roll on Spring and sunny days and the children can get out and play.

Last summer was so lovely. Really don’t want a wet summer too.

I'm HATING it! I felt so much more upbeat and optimistic last January and February because it was sunny. It gave me the boost to try new things. This year I'm struggling against the weather to feel any positivity!

I’m in Ireland and it’s been raining for months. It’s a like a swamp here. So miserable.

I wanted to pop to our eatby market town last night. I turned back as driving over the moors it was too dangerous, what with water in dips and fog plus the rain. I googled about the reason to the extended constant rain. Nothing showed.

I can’t help remembering how I was longing for rain for so much of last summer. I’d rather have rain than drought, especially having lived in deserts for 13 years. And both times I’ve visited Australia there’s been serious drought. I do find it scary when it - just - doesn’t - rain.

Though having said that, some sunny days would be very welcome now!

A friend in Stockholm BTW has been bewailing the masses of snow - snow on snow on snow….

I'm currently having to take a 15 mile diversion to get to work which would normally be a 10 minute drive. The diversion route is now starting to flood so I've no idea how I'm going to get out of the village should that happen and WFH is not an option.

A drop of rain won't hurt you. It's far better than all the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions some countries are having, and all the death and destruction that comes with them.

It’s not just a drop though is it? It’s been pretty much non stop rain here for the last few weeks, and predicted to continue for the foreseeable future.
And there has been destruction - homes and businesses have had to be evacuated because of flooding.

I know we are lucky we don’t have natural disasters. Still finding this rain depressing though.

A drop? I'm guessing you don't live in Somerset. It's been non stop here...38 days with no end in sight.
