They’ve ruined the Lottery app

Has anyone tried the new app out? My god it’s horrifically bad. It’s like they saw how easy and straightforward the old version was and thought let’s do the complete opposite and make everything vague and confusing.

Someone has been paid to design, test and then decide it was suitable to go live. Clearly someone from Gamble Aware has infiltrated the board.

I need my gambling fix to be efficient and swift, please don’t make me linger on the app too long otherwise I’ll start questioning my life choices even more.

Dh and ds2 have Apple 14s and it’s done an update. It is truly awful now, giving people headaches.
What is it with updates that do not enhance your life at all ?

I didn’t get my usual ‘Your ticket has finished’ email. So now I have no ticket. Unfortunately, I always use the same numbers so will know if I should have won, grrr

The Met Office have just done the same with their app too, completely fucked it up by trying to 'improve' it.

Why have an "app" ? Just bookmark a browser to the mobile site. Oh right. Everything needs to be an "app" that you "sign into" so they can have that lovely data to sell.

That being said they have also broken the website(Met Office). The new site now displays 22% less information and needs 12% more effort to navigate than the (still available) "original" version.

I really can't be arsed to run metrics on "apps". But purely by inspection most are now 85% as efficient as in 2021.

I suspect the clamour for "AI" (not from the users though) means we will be seeing a lot more of this.

I know MN isn't the place to really worry about disabilities, but if a company only provides an "app" to access their services rather than a proper website that accessibility aids can use (screen readers, typing aids) then you know they haven;t given a seconds thought to their disabled customers. "Livi" being an example. (Although they did admit it which was refreshing),

They runied the webiste too! I do the syndicate for work, so buy the ticket and screen shot it to send to every one else - it used to fit in the windows but now no matter how you set it up you have to scroll to see the whole ticket - so now I have to screen shot it twice and 'cos I'm fussy about these things try to line them up!

I know in the scheme of things it's failry minor but it still seems like a definate backwards step

Just came on to see if it had happened to anyone else. I find it so handy and I play the same numbers too, so have missed tonight’s game 🤷🏻‍♀️

the website is a mess.

previously it would display so you could easily see how many line entries you had for a particular draw together. So if you have an existing Ticket 1 entered for 4 weeks and then on a particular Tuesday there was a massive roll over so you decided to buy Ticket 2 for that tuesday, the website would show you those together on that date grouped together. So you could look under your games and see on Tuesday 21 April you had 2 tickets entered.

Now it lists each ticket separately with each by number of draws grouped together for that ticket. so it will show you ticket 1 list of dates and ticket 2 list of dates one after the other - so you have to look through all the dates. It doesnt even help if you filter the display by 'pending' because it still shows them listed by each ticket rather than by date.

Apart from being inconvenient to see what you are entered in easily, I think this must be very bad for gambling addiction support because it makes it far more difficult to see how many lines you have entered on a particular date.

No messages about ticket finishing.

In addition to that I cannot bear the terrible grammar and wording of the new operators winning message : "You've only gone and won £3". You've only gone and won???? It's appalling.

I can't understand why they have made this all so dreadfully difficult to use.

I have also complained not sure they care much. I lost my bank card but couldn't add another until Id withdrawn the balance which was 10p ! I couldn't withdraw it without the bank card. So I had to phone them, not very convenient to have to call every time you change your bank cards.

I keep getting your advanced play ticket has finished , goodness knows why I’m getting them and others aren’t. I’d really like to know why we can’t just see what draws we are entered into. And I don’t need an email to say I’ve added funds.

As well as the Met Office app falling victim to this, YouTube have removed 'sort results by upload time', one of their most useful features, and National Rail has made 'live trains' and 'journey planner' easier to mix up and laborious to disentangle. And does anyone else wonder whether London Northwestern is actually working for its competitors, given the way it conceals its own cheaper services so assiduously?

This thread would consume the entire internet if all shitty apps were to be mentioned.

A good rule of thumb is all apps are shit. I mean can you think of a good one ? Especially compared to earlier versions.

I’m not convinced the National Lottery app is genuine anyway. I’ve been using it for a long time and not once have I won a jackpot or even just a few hundred thousand. Suspicious, no?

Not if you k ow how numbers work.

Besides, the apps sole function is to make money for whoever runs the National Lottery these days. Anything else is pure happenstance.

Speaking of the lottery, what happened to all the promised changes when the new group took over, didn’t they promise to reduce the cost of playing the actual lottery, from what I’ve seen absolutely nothing, other than a poorer app, has changed since Camelot lost its license

I read once online that the lottery only exists for people who run it and their relatives win.. it’s probably fake news , conspiracy theories and so on, but it wouldn’t surprise me tbh ! ( how it’s done is another matter , but hey ho)

Jane, I’m part of a syndicate since 95. We didn’t incorporate any new numbers , so I guess we shall never win. It’s only five lines. I know I’ll never win, but it’s just habit now to carry on. Rod for our own backs really !
