Most ridiculous complaint.

I got a supermarket delivery and it arrived about 10 mins before the time slot. I was happy with this but joked with the driver about it being early.

He said some people do make genuine complaint if he is early.

At one house he knocked on the door, the door was opened and he was told to come back at the allotted time. It was 2 mins.

The shop that I worked in had a bomb threat phoned in first thing in the morning so we obviously couldn’t open. Multiple people complained that they couldn’t enter but two stand out. One complained to us that it wasn’t fair that we let the Bomb Squad in but not the customers and another sent a formal complaint to head office because we hadn’t told him exactly how long we would be shut in advance!

I work in EBay sales for a charity. We had someone email to say they wanted to send a parcel back as it was too well wrapped (it was a China ornament).

I work in retail (think golden arches)
Anyway, the most memorable one was a bloke came in and ordered a big mac, chips and a diet coke on the till
I double checked the order with him and he was happy
He got his big mac, chips and diet coke but kicked off big time because he'd wanted an orange juice instead of a diet coke
He saw me walk past him mid rant so grabbed hold of my ponytail and punched me in the face

Another shat all over the floor in the disabled and walked out
He rang to complain about the toilets being dirty and I got into trouble for it even though he'd made the mess in the first place
(They where spotless as I came out/he went in and you can see nobody else go in before him-all caught on camera)

Another grabbed me and assaulted me-he shoved his hard penis into my back and tried to shove his hand up my top (again, caught on camera)
My manager rang the police(who didnt do anything-just gave him a bollocking) so he rang our head office to complain about me (he claimed id 'come onto me' apparently and 'was a typical hysterical woman, whinging about nothing')
They didnt even ban him until I kicked up a fuss

I hope your Manager also called the police on the thug that punched you in the face! Bloody hell, what an awful place to work!

i saw that happen in a mcds when a guy slapped a girl working there. We waited for him outside and kicked the crap out of him

I work in a solicitors, a large amount of our work is dealing with Wills after people have died, we write out to their heirs and tell them they’re due x amount of money please send us your bank details. When we send them the payment it has our firm’s name on so they should know what the money is when they see it in their account, we also send a letter telling them we’ve how much we’ve sent in case they need to prove where the money has come from, the amount of people that put in complaints because they see the money in their account before the letter arrives is crazy, if we were taking money out of their accounts I’d understand, but it’s money they know they’re going to get, and it’s not as if having some extra money in your account is a problem, even if they’d prefer to have the letter first is it really worth ringing up and shouting down the phone about.

Someone complaining and trying to push their way into the shop to buy something, when we were under water due to the river flooding. We were desperately sandbagging the doors and trying to get all the produce above the encroaching water.

Farticus101 · 10/01/2026 20:00

Someone complained about being evacuated from the building when a fire alarm went off. They actually wrote an email about it.

I wish my boss had replied 'alright then, we'll let you burn next time'.

I used to work in sales and would greet customers and ask how their day is going. One woman asked me why I wanted to know that so I said I was just making conversation. A little while later she returned asking for my name as she was reporting me to head office for invading her privacy with that question. She did actually report me too 😂😂

I wouldn't put in a complaint but sales people who call me, are uber chummy and ask about my day, get very short shrift. They are not my chums, U have no wish to over share, or speak to them at all really. Please get to the point, say what you are selling and I'll say if I'm interested.

If you’re a runner, you’ll know standard running events are 5k, 10k, 13.1 mile half marathon and 26.2 mile marathon. I don’t know why it’s a mix of k and miles, it’s just the way it is!

I worked for a charity and organised a 10k run. We had someone phone and complain about the fact their grandparents didn’t fight in the war so we could then use foreign distance measurements when we should be using miles 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have been charged by British gas £20 because their engineer couldn’t have access to the board. I never asked them to come.
It is on the side of the house and easy access (no fence) plus I was there, nobody came, rang or knock the door! I never answered positively any later « offer » of another engineer coming. Keeping my £s thank you!

Do you remember the item? That’d be an amazing marketing!

Someone sent a really shitty public Teams message telling Admin/HR that they would have preferred the earthquake warning before she got in the lift.

They call them out
They walk in with an air of 'what do you want us to do?' And fuck all happens
I was assaulted (just after Wayne couzins) and fuck all happened
They had witnesses, cctv and me telling them what happened and they just shrug

I've lost faith in them now

I worked in reception at a small zoo in the 90s. A very upset family came in to complain that we had no elephants. They had seen an elephant on the brown tourist road signs and expected to see elephants (an elephant was the AA tourist sign symbol for 'zoo'). At the time I was gobsmacked, but thinking on it I can see their point 😂

I wouldn't go that far (report you) but it really winds me up if people ask me how my day is going. Why should I have to think of something to say? Am I supposed to ask you back how yours is going? ( I have no idea. I am ND.) Do you really want a conversation, because if not, what's the point of me saying "Fine"? Just say "Hello" ffs.

You don’t have to think of something to say. Just say ‘I’m fine thank you, how are you?’

It’s just a small social nicety, to make things a bit more human and a bit less blunt that just going straight into what you want.

Randalsratfriends · 10/01/2026 20:59

Someone once complained officially about a colleague for ordering, paying for and eating a half portion of chips in the work canteen. I have no idea why this bothered them.

NotThisShitAgain121 · 10/01/2026 21:06

It's not petty - slots are booked for a reason for convenience of the customer not the company . I have had issues in the last few months with Asda deliveries turning up 2 hours ahead of time ridiculous. All because the driver was ahead of schedule and wanted to get off early. Not acceptable, If I wanted them delivered 2 hours earlier I would have booked that time slot.

I think it was paint! I could have been a bit more sympathetic if it was milk / bread but it was 2 tins of white emulsion.

Summerishere123 · 10/01/2026 21:09

Asked someone to put on the safety gear for an activity. She took it off so someone else asked her to put it on too. She complained to the manager that we had targetted her and she felt it was a racist attack!

NotThisShitAgain121 · 10/01/2026 21:13

Good on you guys.

RyanFudgingMurphy · 10/01/2026 21:48

A common one in my industry is a new homeowner complaining about the noise from my station, such as train noise, noise from night work or announcements. I always tell them that they should have thought about that before buying their house. I once had to call an ambulance for a person who had a nasty accident on a set of stairs, and a local resident complained about that.

RyanFudgingMurphy · 10/01/2026 21:57

Ooh, and the time my colleague was saying good morning to everyone who entered the station, being pleasant, and a woman marched up to me complaining, because (in her opinion) what the eff was good about it?

My Asda delivery guys aren’t allowed to deliver early. So if I book for 11am - 11.30am and they get to my street at 10.55am, they have to park round the corner for 5 minutes. I kid you not!

CrowsInMyGarden · 10/01/2026 22:24

@DontlletmedownbruceIt’s just that people asking how your day is going is just so superficial. They don’t really care. I hated it when my mum had just died and people I didn’t know asked me how i was. If I had began to tell them the truth they would have hung up on me. However I can see it from the other side. I did work as receptionist in a mental health centre a few years later and asked a patient I’d not seen for a while “How are you doing?” He got upset and told me I should not ask that as I was not prepared for the answer. He was right. I’d forgotten how I’d felt and said the same thing to him that had upset me. This is all a bit deeper than I intended but I think it’s just best not to ask how someone’s day is going as it may well be shit!
