Back on US soil, an American citizen in a peaceful neighbourhood is gunned down by masked agents sent there to make people afraid.

Despicable, wretched people lying, lying, lying - all day, every day, about everything.

Wow she has no dignity

I would live to hear how this is viewed in Venezuela

A little group chat I am in. an ozzie member is a bit expletive laden about this at this very moment. The Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, has taken to social media to heap praise on the whole thing.

Can no politicians grow a spine.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 16/01/2026 07:49

Seems to me this discredits the Nobel. Wonder if the Nobel committee can officially take back or rescind the prize?
And would that get under Trump's thin skin?

MsJinks · 16/01/2026 08:25

As discussed before on here Trump definitely shows some signs of dementia/failing with his rambling, OTT ways, but despite this he is still excellent at grifting and pocketing money to his own benefit - as against many bankruptcies when as compos mentis as he ever could be.
I feel there must be quite a few people assisting with the technical aspects of this, if not the planning - is it family or close colleagues or employees doing as bidden?
Surprised if it’s colleagues they don’t skim, family ditto as it’s his family, and if employees that there has never been a whistleblower.
Who is looking out so strongly for his interests and what do they get out of it.

MsJinks · 16/01/2026 08:28

I think the Nobel prize thing is so sad - I guess she’s hoping to get a return on it.
It is I think the first time this has happened as in a recipient gifting it and their recipient making such a show of it all. If she had genuinely thought he was the better person to get it then she should have refused it in the first place.
I do expect he’ll never get it officially now even if he stopped WW3 but maybe the board aren’t as petty as I.

DuncinToffee · 16/01/2026 08:34

From the Guardian

“Speaking to reporters, Machado compared handing her (Nobel Peace Prize) medal to Trump to how, in 1825, the Marquis de Lafayette sent a gold medal featuring an image of George Washington to the South American independence hero Simón Bolívar.”

Spandauer · 16/01/2026 08:43

That gold frame isn't tacky enough. Let's see how much he 'enhances' it.

Also fully expecting him to make a replica (or 2) to display at Mar a Lago and round his turkey neck.

"And in the meantime, he put the money from the first oil sale into that Qatari account he opened, so he has his own personal slush fund and can bypass congress completely. He's unbelievable."

It’s not just he who is unbelievable, though, is it? It’s all the people who are enabling him, from his close circle of arse-licking minions, MAGATs, the GOP out to save their own skins at the cost of democracy, the Dems who have just stood by and watched him destroy their precious Constitution and its "checks and balances", without demur, along with leaders of foreign states who should not be taking him seriously but should have joined forces to laugh at him and ignored his stupidity, if not the first time, at least this second time round.

Reading about that Qatari bank thing.

I can't help but wonder why Trump, or his handlers, don't just try to get in touch with POTUS, whoever that is. Apparently this POTUS fella, whoever he/she is, can change US sanctions with the stroke of a pen, or a badly worded Tweet thing.

And this POTUS guy, whoever he/she is , if needs be, could even get in touch with this new Venezuelan prez, whoever he is. I saw a photo of him somewhere.

I suspect there's a lot about her that's not ideal - she's pretty far right, if I'm understanding correctly, but I can see in her shoes if she thinks she can play him to get the Maduro regime out and her party in, it's worth it. A lot rides on making this some kind of real transition. She has to know it's a gamble there will actually be follow through from him.

And in the meantime, he put the money from the first oil sale into that Qatari account he opened, so he has his own personal slush fund and can bypass congress completely. He's unbelievable.

Does someone have a link for that story about Trump putting Venezualan oil money in a Qatari bank account, please?

It's so very plausible that part of me believes it instantly – therefore the other part of me realises it's all the more important to check!

Oh blegh! I'm obviously completely blind today.

Thanks for that, @DuncinToffee and of course @RedTagAlan . I have now actually drunk my morning coffee!

They need to give the Nobel to Obama (again) next year—to re-calibrate and put Trump back in his place.

Give it to Mette Fredericksen - that’ll really wind him up!

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 16/01/2026 12:59

@YankTank he'd absolutely implode if Obama got it again! We'd see a total public meltdown. Brilliant idea! 😂

Better yet, for maximum implosion, they should give it to Biden.

They should scatter half a dozen Nobels next year. All to Dems.
Obama, Biden, Harris, couple of Clintons... 😂

One for me too. I separated fighting goldfish just last week. And don't believe the New Fish Times and the Fishy Post and their fake news. Goldfish do fight.

In fact, I know millions of people who deserve the NOBAL Peace PRIZE. Billions perhaps. I know more people who deserve the NOBLE PEACE PRISE than anyone else. I am really smart that way. I aced all my conattave smartness tests. They said they have never seen anyone so smart. My uncle worked at MIT, that's how smart I am.

But don't give that Trump one. Nasty man.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 16/01/2026 13:41

Hell, we should all get one! 😇
