@FFSToEverythingSince2020 how are you this morning?

Please don't be afraid to make a fuss if things aren't showing an improvement. Cellulitis - even without sepsis - occasionally can need iv antibiotics

I'm not trying to be dramatic but, if you were my friend, I would be pushing you to make contact with your GP today.

What is your temperature? High or low is a problem (I'm certain you know all this, but when you're ill you don't always think straight).

Really hope the tablets have kicked in and that you feel better today x

Hey I started my own thread because I really needed some advice and a great nurse answered. I’ve made contact with my on-call GP (they call back in like 20 minutes when you send photos of cellulitis) he’s doubled the antibiotics after seeing my photos, and if it looks at all worse tomorrow, I’m to dial 111. No fever, but yes, my temp is actually a bit low and I feel like absolute shite and cold which is weird since no fever.

I'll go find your thread, but just be aware that your temp can drop low with sepsis, so if it's low and in this context, I would take it as a serious warning sign that you could be heading back to sepsis.

It might need culturing and specific antibiotics prescribed, it may need iv antibiotics which can be more powerful / work quicker. Honestly, keep a record of how you feel over the never few hours and don't be afraid to say that something isn't right still

Hope I'm just being doom-y and dramatic, and that you turn the corner today x

Ah, shite. I do remember that vaguely from sepsis now. I’ll Google the danger threshold and keep an eye on my temperature. Thank you!!!

Yes- yesterday I found out that my company is requiring another day in the office. Going from 3 to 4. I’m old and tired so am very worried if I will be able to do it.

Gasbox · 09/01/2026 10:45

Not sure if reading about everyone else's shitty week has made me feel better or worse but yeah, mine's been crap too. Had to have my dog pts on Monday, he was 13 and had been deteriorating but wasn't expecting to lose him just yet, I'm utterly devastated tbh. Tuesday I received a court summons because we're in a mess with our council tax, had money trouble since DH's business failed last year and feels like there's no end in sight or light at the end of the tunnel. MIL is in the middle of chemo, my house is a shit tip because DH and I are both working all the hours god sends trying to keep our heads above water and my whole body hurts because I clean for a living and am doing so many hours, I'm averaging 30000 steps a day just from work. Massive hugs to everyone else having a shit time, at least we have each other to vent to!

bushproblems · 09/01/2026 10:56

It’s Friday, but doesn’t feel very Friday-ish.

Im tired and worried about my performance at work, the job market is so dire right now that it’s giving me anxiety.

Yes. Everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong.

A load of plans have had to change unexpectedly.
Finances have gone tits up.
DH can't work as car broken.
I've spent three days having frequent seizures.
The roof is leaking.
Rejected for a job I thought I'd at least get an interview for.

I'd like to sleep until 2027 please, because if this is an omen of what's to come in 2026, I'm done.

You have my sympathies with the seizures (well, and everything else), I have epilepsy and even one seizure really knocks the stuffing out of you 💐

MackenCheese · 09/01/2026 12:41

Shitty week here too.
Car electrics playing up
I have a stinking cold
Found out 16 year old daughter buying condoms, which means I need to sort out contraception ASAP (i wasnt quite ready for this)
Skint
Ugh!

Soonenough · 09/01/2026 12:49

Life seems very tough these days . Mental health issues starting again . Weight soaring because of it which then makes any physical effort more difficult. Which will exacerbate existing heart problems .Money worries as everyone else has. Family rifts . Terrible home relationship. It can be so overwhelming at times . And I can't even think about the injustice and unfairness in the world as it's so frightening for the future .

But like most of the women on MN we keep on day after day for the sake of our families and our kids . We are all dealing with different concerns and worries , some more serious than others , some with no good resolution. It definitely helps to report here and to be aware that silently unknowingly other women are listening and wishing us to gain peace .

Sunnyside4 · 09/01/2026 13:08

DH had a brain hemorrhage about three weeks ago, so still adjusting to the limitations it's brought into our lives and concern for him.

Tyre warning light came up on car. We absolutely cannot be without it right now in case we need to get to hospital. Car problems are DH's job here, but I've learnt how to take tyre pressure and pump up.

Front door wouldn't lock and we an appointment at specialist hospital. Downstairs toilet playing up, but that's a problem for next week.

Sunnyside4 · 09/01/2026 13:13

Oh, I forgot one of my cats has an eye problem, so he's seen a specialist vet this week.

nochance17 · 09/01/2026 22:46

Just had yours pop up as I was about to turn off after ❄️ check……. You made me wry smile….. I’m same age, and hear you. Sending you a bloody massive hug and hope for a winning lotto ticket - to escape your crap at work, a hot holiday abroad for your chest infection, and new massive house so DD can live in the massive pool house ( with, or without BF ( do you like him?! 🤔😈🤷‍♀️!).. Chin up! You sound lovely and deserve better ! 😽

Sisublondie thank you for your kind words it’s nice to be heard and means a lot ! Yes I like the BF he’s a lovely young man 🧍‍♂️ very happy for them but this empty nest shit is real (I used to be quite skeptical about it !)

I know it feels stressful your daughter is buying condoms, but it's so much better than not buying condoms! Those are not the easiest conversations to have, but you just have to bite the bullet, mine always used to say 'ugh' when I was speaking but I would carry on anyway. Let her know she can talk to you about any of this stuff, sex, contraception, infections, tests, the whole lot, it's so hard to start up but I'm proud that we can talk these options through in our house even though it was like pulling teeth to start with!

I'm so sorry about your doggie, they are just part of our lives and in our hearts. I have been in debt and in trouble with the council tax and thought I would never climb out, but you do. My only tip is not to bury your head in the sand and not open the letters, I still struggle to open them if I think it will say something bad, but there is help out there- call the council tax office and see if they will let you do a payment plan and avoid the summons. There are also charities (e.g. Christians against poverty, Payplan) which can help you with financial difficulties- if you get any debts stabilised, then all your hard work cleaning will start to pay off. I hope it works out for you, financial troubles are the worst but can often be solved more easily than we think if we face them head on rather than running away (my usual strategy with money!)

I could have written all of these things, period coming particularly gutting as we are trying to conceive, £700 bill for my car and I’m doing dry jan so can’t even drown my sorrows. Hang in there OP, we got this!

ChinFluff46 · 10/01/2026 00:00

Thank god its not just me. Drowning in work, completely broke, and fat. Yes these things have been going around my head.

Safxxx · 10/01/2026 00:10

Whilst all feelings are valid, the way I get through my hard days is by counting my blessings and thinking of the people who are going through worser times than me.
I hope everyone who posted here gets better days and their problems go away Xx I know it sucks

Frankenpug23 · 10/01/2026 00:27

Yep agree 2026 can fuck off

  • work is shit
  • my BiL is now end of life and I am trying to support him, my DH and his kids (he is a single Dad)
  • my DD has been really ill
  • my dog has a neurological condition and has been referred to the consultant vet
  • I have just got my car back after some idiot went into the side of it!

I just want to stay in bed most days!

DH has been in persistent AF since Sunday, multiple visits to A & E/GP and still ongoing. Don't get me started on timewasters in A & E meaning you get 15 hour waits to see a Dr. He's understandably exhausted and not well enough to work meaning I'm doing everything at home and at our business (we work together). One of our employees was being an utter knob today and I very nearly told him to pack his stuff up and just fuck off. Whilst feeling so sorry for DH, I'm utterly exhausted as well thanks to the 3am discharges from A & E, and there's one more day to go. The house is a tip, and the dogs mithering me as they only had a short walk due to the weather.

I'm also muffling a large scream thinking this could be our future if he's in permanent AF....

Could your DH have an ablation in the hope of stopping his AF permanently? Has this been discussed with him? His condition seems serious enough to warrant it.

mondaytosunday · 10/01/2026 00:33

Tenant is a month late paying rent (she’s being petty about something that has nothing to do with her flat but the communal area) - this means I don’t have money to pay my taxes due end of the month; I was concerned about my dog’s breathing, took her to the vets and they called three hours later saying she had crashed and was dying and they put her to sleep. My Dd returns in the morning to uni five hours away. We had to put our other dog to sleep the day before she returned to uni a year ago. We are all devastated.

He had this done 3 years ago, and initially it was very successful. He's now on the waiting list for a second go, the Cardiologist did say that it often needs repeating for 2 or 3 times. He's got an appointment with our GP next week and the Cardiologist (privately) in 3 weeks so I'm hoping that he may jump the list a little as he's now in permanent AF. He feels dreadfully unwell, and could barely manage a short walk with the dogs today.

MagicMagpie · 10/01/2026 20:25

That is awful, MrsLizzieDarcy. I hope a second ablation dramatically relieves his condition. Does he have flecainide, or some other anti-arrhythmic at home to use as “pill in the pocket”?

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 10/01/2026 20:43

I'm really sorry for your loss, @mondaytosunday. And for everyone having miserable bloody times at the moment 💙

FryingPam · 10/01/2026 20:46

Me.
My toddler is ill. I haven’t had a proper sleep all week. Yesterday I also got ill. Today my husband seems to go down, no idea how we manage tomorrow.
