DH has been in persistent AF since Sunday, multiple visits to A & E/GP and still ongoing. Don't get me started on timewasters in A & E meaning you get 15 hour waits to see a Dr. He's understandably exhausted and not well enough to work meaning I'm doing everything at home and at our business (we work together). One of our employees was being an utter knob today and I very nearly told him to pack his stuff up and just fuck off. Whilst feeling so sorry for DH, I'm utterly exhausted as well thanks to the 3am discharges from A & E, and there's one more day to go. The house is a tip, and the dogs mithering me as they only had a short walk due to the weather.

I'm also muffling a large scream thinking this could be our future if he's in permanent AF....

I have AF too thankfully I’m not permanently in AF it’s awful the medication I’m on drains me he has my sympathy hope he feels a bit better soon and comes out of it

Cryingatthegym · 08/01/2026 21:48

Yep!

I'm skint.

Car has died.

Cat has hurt her leg.

And I've spent the week talking to my solicitor/social services/school/nursery about safeguarding concerns about my children's dad.

He received the letter today informing him that I'm stopping contact.

My nervous system is done in.

silkforthecanary · 08/01/2026 22:35

Car tyres 4; Insurance on house; new cistern; Repair to boiler; Tax to pay by 31st.
Have to live on egg and oven chips, when chips run out, bread and jam until end Feb.

jackadoo1 · 08/01/2026 22:40

Tomorrow is another day. Sending love to you all x

BlackCatGoesHome · 08/01/2026 22:43

Yes. Woke up with a spontaneous dislocated ankle (apparently still waiting for mri) on New Year's Day. Can't walk. Car broke down 2nd January. Now on a 2ww for suspected breast cancer.

@Fiveandeight58 can I ask, is that Atrial Fibrillation? My DH has been in A and E with heart issues and given beta blockers but hasn’t been given a specific diagnosis.

are you on biprosopal (sp?)

Kitterkitkat · 08/01/2026 22:47

Past 24 hours have been bad, very worried about money, boiler gobbles electric and doesn't stay hot for long.

Wanted to see a friend tonight but he's tired which is fair enough as he's been out all day, so tomorrow instead.

Gettingbysomehow · 08/01/2026 22:47

I work in the NHS so shit weeks are mandatory. This one takes the cake.

JennyForeigner · 08/01/2026 22:59

Oh god, this thread has put it all in context. Sending unmumsnetty etc love to everyone struggling with awful things x

PigglyWiggle · 08/01/2026 23:21

Agreed. Fuck this week!

nochance17 · 08/01/2026 23:50

chest infection over Christmas so did not really enjoy it
I am skint and direct debits are bouncing
Ageism is alive and well and killing any chance of me getting a decent job in my fifties, stuck on a zero hours contract after a redundancy
DD moved out with her BF just before Christmas and I have a bad case of empty nest syndrome (I thought I would be fine but I’m not) it’s too bloody quiet and I don’t know what to do with myself plus I’m skint and it’s too cold to do much anyway
Hope things get better for everyone soon 😀

Penelope23145 · 08/01/2026 23:57

New IT set up at work and everything is twice as difficult as it was before. Car playing up. Work is tedious, not much work coming in and job ending in a few months and I have just lost any motivation. Have had upset stomach today and in the rush to get home urgently I am worried I have gone slightly over the speed limit again on my way home. Worried as recently had a speeding fine.

FlyHighLikeABird · 08/01/2026 23:57

Anniversary of my husband's death, woke in the night, had a good cry, went back to sleep.

This is a wet, windy, cold week and we just have to all keep going.

Just had yours pop up as I was about to turn off after ❄️ check……. You made me wry smile….. I’m same age, and hear you. Sending you a bloody massive hug and hope for a winning lotto ticket - to escape your crap at work, a hot holiday abroad for your chest infection, and new massive house so DD can live in the massive pool house ( with, or without BF ( do you like him?! 🤔😈🤷‍♀️!).. Chin up! You sound lovely and deserve better ! 😽

I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s the third anniversary of my best friend’s death tomorrow, and I’m dreading it, as it’s so much for her two teenagers who had their life turned upside down as their Dad had left before the youngest born. I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight, and each day gets a little easier for you. Stay safe in this grim weather…. Spring is only round the corner. 💖

Thank you. So good that you are in their lives though. I have teenagers. We had a little moment earlier. What can you do? It's just terribly sad when someone dies too young. Always glad when the daffodils start to bloom.

Great Aunt died on Christmas Day. Blowout on the motorway necessitated 4 new tyres. My oven and fridge freezer have both packed up this week. It’s been a rubbish start to the year.

Have you checked your trip switch for the oven. Are your fridge and oven on the same electric circuit? Just thought I'd mention if was an electrical issue rather than the appliances?

StepawayfromtheLindors · 09/01/2026 00:12

Yes. That crazed idiot in the White House is causing upset and anxiety for the world order and it’s having a ripple effect on all our lives.

Our dog is unwell
Tree blown over in garden
Dear friend been diagnosed with a horrible illness
My car failed MoT

Shit week

Oh, I’m so very sorry to hear that. I hope they are doing as best as they can. Luckily I’ve known them all their lives and
provide memories and photos that they don’t really remember. The oldest, DS, is at Uni now and her DD is now 17 and a gorgeous young woman, and sometimes it really sticks in my throat at what she is missing, and feel guilt that I’m not. I cannot begin to imagine the strength you’ve had to find to carry on after losing him. You must be a very special woman, and they are so lucky to have you.

Bring on the daffodils 💖🌟….. x

Worst and maybe last week of my life. My DH, and carer, is having a mental health breakdown while it looks like I might have cellulitis. I’m so incredibly sick and I’m not sure I’ll come through this.

Christ alive good luck Ang keep us updated.

Youngeryoungsuddenly · 09/01/2026 05:25

I’m up and down. DH died recently, so grappling with that. I can’t sleep and I’ve got recurring thrush. I’ve self medicated but it keeps coming back. I can’t get through to the doctor to get an appointment.

Yes I have atrial fibrillation (paroxysmal )and I’m on Bisoprolol and Apixaban (blood thinner) as having AF makes you higher risk of stroke / heart attack. I went to A&E was assessed and my heart rate was through the roof was immediately took to resuss and given intravenous medication and told I would be admitted spent around 3 days on cardiac ward then was discharged with medication and told I would get an appointment to go for an echocardiogram which I had around a week or so later

Love this!

I slipped on my icy patio while in pjs and trying to get my dog back in. I’m bruised and can’t sit down with a sprained wrist.

I’ve had such a lot in this week as well. But tomorrow I’m off with zero plansSmile

Ah SpodeFan, I have got sympathy for you, even though to an onlooker that must have looked pretty funny.- sorry! But can you just clear up one little bit of confusion I have, do you normally sit on your sprained wrist? If you do, may I gently ask both, why and how?

Chickchickchickens · 09/01/2026 07:00

Have some type of bacteria throat/ chest infection which makes me throw up all the time, on a flight started to cough threw up everywhere as
the bloody plane was in pitch darknes could not see a thing. Changed clothes, sorry fellow travellers could not get to the toilet quick enough.

Got to destination awful time felt rubbish, hotel changed out of all recognition from last vist, woke up 2am being sick stood up, slipped on said vomit on a concrete floor thought I had broke my elbow banged my head hard so have matching elbow and head eggs, oh the mess and the colourful bruises but could of been much, much worse. Been going on since beginning of December.....and I'm away solo, fed up...and forcing myself to eat to take all the tablets....then I throw her back up, joy

Chickchickchickens · 09/01/2026 07:08

Can also add the 10 mosquito bites that are now infected.

Sorry to read bout everyone's worse issues than mine I hope things do get better as much as they can.
