currently living from your childhood home?

98 miles for me, and have to drive through three different counties.
(On our way there now!)

Megsdaughter · 03/01/2026 14:33

5000 miles from my first home, 6800 miles from the one we lived in the longest and 50 miles from the one i left home from.

Thedogscollar · 03/01/2026 14:35

438 miles

Mathsbabe · 03/01/2026 14:35

12,000 from my birthplace, 200 miles from my second childhood home and 40 miles from my third childhood home.

EdinaTheConfessor · 03/01/2026 14:36

373 miles according to Apple Maps. I’d need to fly or get a ferry though.

Duckiewasthefirstniceguy · 03/01/2026 14:39

I just checked and it’s 3,405 miles. I’d have to fly or get a boat.

slavetothekittens · 03/01/2026 14:42

About 12 miles.

notthedressiwanted · 03/01/2026 14:45

Just under 160 miles.

HideousKinky · 03/01/2026 14:45

200 miles
But for many years, a 14 hour flight

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 03/01/2026 14:46

Only about 30 miles, but would take a good hour at least to drive there. We moved away in the 1970s and I haven't been back for a long time.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 03/01/2026 14:47

Roughly 4,500 miles

LemograssLollipop · 03/01/2026 14:47

58 miles away, next county.

Crushed23 · 03/01/2026 14:48

A long haul flight (around 3,500 miles).

Best thing I ever did. 😁

NotrialNodeal · 03/01/2026 14:49

107 miles.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 03/01/2026 14:52

80 miles, though it feels like forever to drive before you get to the motorway!

It's the closest to where I grew up that I've ever lived as an adult. The furthest was just over 130, where I went to university. I think that my family have finally accepted that I will continue to resist the Curse of the Village, which draws people back to it from as far away as Australia!

HurdyGurdy19 · 03/01/2026 14:57

6 hours from my home town from age 0-13

I hour from age 13-18

MissAmbrosia · 03/01/2026 15:00

About 200km and a ferry. Though we are currently buying a house 5 mins walk from where my grandfather was born.

ohtowinthelottery · 03/01/2026 15:00

71 miles. Was only 45 miles when I first moved away but then moved a bit further away due to work commitments. Been here now much longer than I ever lived in my home town.

Lunde · 03/01/2026 15:01

1,300 miles

To drive I would need to drive in 5 countries (if I took a ferry) or 7 to take the channel tunnel

ItsameLuigi · 03/01/2026 15:02

8 miles

Minty25 · 03/01/2026 15:02

Three short roads away. Have lived away from where I grew up for about 10 years including four years living on the other side of the world but returned to home village when the kids came along. My very elderly dad still lives here so we will stay until he is no longer with us but then hope to retire somewhere completely new.

BonnieWeeLass99 · 03/01/2026 15:03

Just over 200 miles! Have spent my afternoon on rightmove considering moving back but for many reasons that won't be happening anytime soon!!

GameOfJones · 03/01/2026 15:04

220 miles.

I wish I lived a bit closer as my parents are getting older but I prefer the area I live now.

frockandcrocs · 03/01/2026 15:05

RN, a 7min walk (I work v close to DMs house!). My home is about a 40mins walk (10min drive).

zoomzoomzoomz · 03/01/2026 15:06

0.4 miles, moved a few miles away at 21 when I moved in with my now DH and when I fell pregnant with our first DC a house came up round the corner from my mums so we jumped at the chance.

WaitingOnSpring26 · 03/01/2026 15:08

210 miles from mine but we live in DH’s family home. We came to stay to save for a house deposit many many years ago, FIL died suddenly and MIL never wanted us to leave so we stayed.
