I have 2. First is my coffee machine. It grinds the beans, so I can have a freshly brewed coffee each morning. I love it!
Second one is a prize from postcode lottery. It's a rechargeable hot water bottle, and it's been a game changer! Especially useful for when I'm cold watching DS play rugby....

Thanks @justasking111 . That is reassuring. I have m.e. and am dreading having to be an inpatient (noise, lights, people, cross infection risk) so much that I'm wondering if they will come to my house to replace my hip...and shave a bit off my lowest vertebral disc at the same time. (Sorry to @youLauraa , it will not delete @Lauraa7

If like me it is flipping impossible to get a GP appointment, ask if you have a physio attached to your surgery. They can refer for x-ray. Note that hip pain may be bursitis rather than arthritis, so you may not be looking at a replacement. In fact, I’ve just remembered that you may be able to self-refer to physio by filling in an online form (I did not know this), so check your surgery’s website or google NHS physio services in your area.

if you do need a replacement, many NHS trusts use private hospitals for these, so you may have your own room and be in a smaller hospital. Standard to only need one night in hospital, thought of course this varies depending on your individual circumstances. Some surgeons now glue the top part of the wound, so you may not need an appointment to remove staples etc. If you do, it can be at your local surgery.

Hotel grade towels, bathrobes & slippers. On sale they were a steal but now it feels like spa!

They’re just a projector - Amazon has lots of generic ones if you search projector for bedroom

Do they come with speakers?

I downloaded the Simple intermittent fasting app on the 18th January on the recommendation of a colleague. I used it for about 10 months and I’ve now lost 4 stone 7lb. It kept me accountable for my 16 hour fasts. Best money I spent this year, was less than £20 for the version I used IIRC. I deleted it as I reached goal and stopped fasting every day, hated having to lie to it😜🤣

Second best was my gym membership, that’s pricey but I love it and go 3-4 times every week.

I started this year in such different shape to what last year, it’s been an amazing journey and it all started with a conversation with a colleague and a decision to down load an app.

Is the name of the the app 'simple intermittent fasting'?

Do they come with speakers?

They have an inbuilt speaker but I’d say an external Bluetooth speaker or soundbar give a better experience. Ours stopped supporting Netflix and most of the other apps we use - I need to try linking it up with a firestick to see if that resolves the problem.

Which type of laser is it? Also suffering from menopause induced rosacea… 😮‍💨

I can't remember off the top of my head, but I will ask next time I go! I have an appointment at the end of the month.

Just remember that you can ask for the strength of the lasering to be turned down if it gets too painful, as some parts of your face are more sensitive than others.

Face tanning mist - rarely put makeup on anymore as it gives me some colour.

Rice cooker

Ooh which face tanning mist do you use please?

I’ve had a look and can’t see one for that name. Would love to know which one was used too!

Great idea, especially for multiple kitties! I must google how they work, as it’s such an interesting concept.

Oura ring

How has this helped you? I am tempted to get one but I can’t decide if it will actually benefit me or not.

The won't have found them all in 500 years.... They'll still be looking!!

You must be very young if you are doing shit like this. It’s your planet you are ruining, yours and your children’s. We really have to stop polluting with useless crap.

A mini dish washer!

motherofawhirlwind · 04/01/2026 14:40

Coffee machine - I wanted bean to cup but fully automated. Philips 5400 had a good Black Friday deal on, so I splurged. Literally not bought coffee out since! We were using Tassimo and it'll have paid for itself within a few months just on not buying those pods (plus much less plastics used, despite the recycling scheme).

New kitchen - was a huge amount of work / time 12 months and counting!) and we've done it all ourselves, but it's revolutionary.

They completely take a lot of the hassle away, I love the fact that it bags all the waste for you, and it never smells.

Squirrelchops1 · 04/01/2026 15:35

My kitchen floor.
Previously had porcelain and it always felt cold. Had it covered in LVT..luxury vinyl tile. Half a parquet effect and half tile. It looks amazing, is warmer and so much easier to clean with no grout lines.

I'm pushing 50. The people getting on chairs and under cupboards looking for ducks were mostly 60+.

Unless someone lives off-grid they will always be a consumer and produce waste of some kind. In the balance of what's reasonable and what's not I have a clear conscience when weighed up against the rest of my life and impact on the planet.

I agree! I bought one for my daughter and other friends too, everyone loves them! I bought the dreamland velvet ones, c
ost pennies to run, and are machine washable !

This is very, very minor but magnetic shopping lists and a magnetic pen holder. They are both stuck to the side of the fridge and it's so much quicker than constantly having to search for a pen. The pen holder stays on the pen and doesn't interfere with ability to write. This is the type https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magnetic-Shopping-Notepad-Refrigerator-Cabinet/dp/B0FK4VSLV4/ref=sr_1_10?crid=9UL5BEW4FK7R&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.p-WcnjGz9eKgtgdmHN51pXGSacSCXuRnd_OVOnSQLFWC6SHrPzpBiIki618MmMtCkq1PETCa9UIv-X_BqBFOk9CiEJs_BjBMIwQYHv9sMlGEMolV5TBlKfMZ1zw83lMzFchhR18UnUadcNLzUqe6E-T7o97LD4boV7ovEcILe_lgBSqR8VijzBqu0AUV38XP5dU24eN5I-bNIVgU9Fv5fyfVfdjLK-RTcTfxh_Quaid_5JDt2H5Beq5BJWuZF_eb2IH0BhUfHp9ixYG813om-Pzdx40RVjjqjB3gZ0Ep-do.PQq5bzh8Pe31aJe3841dIoL8wdb-9rk7W7aOa_lr75k&dib_tag=se&keywords=magnetic+shopping+list&qid=1767542187&sprefix=magnetic+sho%2Caps%2C142&sr=8-10

Edited to say that some of the photos are bizarre, pay no attention to the size of the pads as represented in the photos. They are the length that an A4 sheet is wide.

Massive fun sponge here but every time I see people posting about “hiding tiny ducks” pranks I just think about the potential choking hazard for anyone who might visit with a small child. Not to mention the unnecessary plastic waste.

Dear Fun Sponge,

I did a thorough risk assessment of the situation and hid all ducks out of reach of small children even though none live in the property. 🙄

Up yours,
Duck Hider.

Rumba, which we got on garage sale for $20. My husband was very skeptical about them, but for $20 we decided give it at try, and it works great.

Robotic vac and mop - it’s life changing

A David Lloyd membership - I know this is controversial but our local one is great and I’ve become fitter/thinner and mentally happier since joining.

health & her pre menstrual subscription - my PMDD had taken over my life last year, 2025 was much more manageable thanks to this!

@SulkySeagull just curious as to why David Lloyd clubs are controversial?

It's a Skoda Fabia, not new or anything, but is lovely to drive around town and on the motorway. I'd never driven an automatic before, but love it.

Thirded. We don’t currently have space for a dishwasher so the tabletop one we bought this year has been life changing. Hopefully this is the year of the new kitchen and a full size dishwasher but it will do us for now (and will be a godsend during renovations!)
