What's been your best purchase of the year?

I have 2. First is my coffee machine. It grinds the beans, so I can have a freshly brewed coffee each morning. I love it!
Second one is a prize from postcode lottery. It's a rechargeable hot water bottle, and it's been a game changer! Especially useful for when I'm cold watching DS play rugby....

ADHD diagnosis and meds for my 7 year old. And play therapy for him. We’ve gone from struggling to stay in school for an hour, talking about wanting to die, and hurting himself, to full days at school and coping with life much more comfortably. Best money I have ever spent (solo parent who had to do serious budgeting to make it work but I firmly believe it’s saved his life)

That's amazing, hope it continues to make such a positive difference

A tumbling spud peeler, excellent if guests are over for meals. A Vax carpet washer with upholstery attachment. A dishwasher.

CactusRabbit · 01/01/2026 18:27

I'm quite tempted with the Robomops, but very concerned that DDog will chase and try and attack it....

I think mine have already been said several times over - Mounjaro; Meaco dehumidifier; neck fan; and a new house! (Though technically that one's this year since we don't move until the end of the month)

My pop-up infrared sauna

YellowPixie · 01/01/2026 18:33

Wool duvet. Wish I'd bought one years ago.

And a USB ring light which clips onto my laptop for Zoom calls.

Which one please?

I have this lint remover - much better than the small battery ones I’ve had before. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7332173 www.argos.co.uk/product/7332173]]]

A Braun hand blender. So useful. I use it at least once a week. Makes great soups, smoothies, curry paste and more. I love it!

Mounjaro

Right there with you, I never considered it a purchase till I saw your post, but of course it is. I've been on it for a long time now, 20 months, but I've lost a little over 70kg and my life is so different!

Period underwear, so comfy and don't even remember I am on my period anymore during the day. No leaks. A meaco dehumidifier, dries laundry overnight in the winter

Which brand have you bought? My day 1/2 are terrible and I always worry I will leak through if those are my office days.

Lovelynames123 · 01/01/2026 18:56

Bought a house after 8 years renting following divorce, so on top of the actual house I have bought many, many amazing things including, but no limited to:
A dishwasher
A slimline washer and small dryer that fit in my bathroom cupboard, game changing never having to cart loads of laundry up and down stairs!
A beautiful rose gold Smeg kettle and toaster

I basically sold all my furniture pre move and bought all new, as well as new bathroom and kitchen, and carpets and hard floors. I've wiped out my savings but we're unbelievably happy in our real home

ilovesushi · 01/01/2026 19:00

Leisure centre membership. I joined so I could go swimming, but have got hooked on yoga and pilates classes.

Ninja airfryer.
An gadget that you charge and it pumice stones your feet. I stand at work and get corns and calluses and I used to go to a chiropodist a few times a year to get them removed but now I don't need to.

I'd love to know more about the foot gadge please!

hby9628 · 01/01/2026 19:08

Monthly gym subscription. It’s reasonably pricey compared to other gyms but it’s completely cured my back pain & made me stronger. I’ve also dropped 14lb in weight (well pre Xmas I had anyway). Another 7lb to go

Acai thermal trousers. They’re incredible. Nice & stylish and can pass for jeans so I wear them everywhere.

I’d never heard of these - but I’ve just bought some! Thank you

I don’t know the correct term but one of those gadgets that projects onto a wall so we can watch Netflix etc in bed. It’s so lovely to be able to go to bed and be cosy and warm watching a film or something. It’s just a small thing and doesn’t take up much room on a chest of drawers.

I’m about to start researching these as well. This thread is costing me a fortune 💴 😆

grrrlatrix · 01/01/2026 19:26

A really expensive dog. 😅

Ashmas · 01/01/2026 19:31

Our house. A 6 month old new build. Never thought we would achieve this I thought we would have a fixer upper we know we have no time to do or desire to live in a construction zone.
Just long enough for the original owners to suss our any minor issues and have the rectified by the builders.

PyongyangKipperbang · 01/01/2026 19:34

Stepprs insoles.

I am not normally swayed by online ads but I was desperate! I had tried a lot of the other ones to help my Plantar Facsiitis and they didnt do much. But fuck me they are good! Massive improvement almost immediately.

Not cheap for insoles but worth every penny.

HouseWithASeaView · 01/01/2026 19:37

@Dollybantreethe robomops don’t do as good a job as I do but the difference is that the floor is now mopped on a daily, sometimes twice daily, basis rather than twice a week. The corners don’t need doing that often but main bits of the floor do.

Btowngirl · 01/01/2026 19:39

A microwave! Not had one since I lived at home 🤣

HomeStress · 01/01/2026 19:41

My dehumidifier. It’s amazing. It makes such a difference when drying laundry and I’m also using it to help dry out my new build flat.

Hopefully my new home too though as I moved only a few weeks ago it’s too early to tell but I’m in love with my dehumidifier.

JaffavsCookie · 01/01/2026 19:49

My new horse. I am about a million years old and apparently “ too old” but he is a gem, and has brought me so much joy. We won’t trouble the olympic selectors but that’s cool by both of us 🤩🐎
