Need a good cry. What should I watch?

Need to get some emotions out and have a good cry, ideally with a film (or series?) that ends up at least slightly uplifting so that I'm not totally depressed afterwards.
Any suggestions?!
I'll be watching alone so needn't be child-friendly. No other requirements, just needs to let me get a lot of stuck tears out. Thank you!

It's a wonderful life or Marley and me.

Call Me By Your Name.

Or Up... I've never seen DH cry like he cried at Up.

DD (18) still thinks the Good Dinosaur is the saddest film you can watch!

A children’s/family film had me crying as I didn’t see the end coming , it’s a lovely film about the friendship of 2 children who don’t really fit in with the rest of their peers .

We Live In Time

definitely the Goodbye June one, blubbed like a loon at the end, especially the lovely song over the closing credits.

Beaches, steel magnolias or the green mile every time for me.
And marley and me!

Fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe. Brilliant!

The wild robot

I was going to suggest that. Saw it in a half-full cinema with my DC and at one point I think everyone in the place was weeping.

Paddington 2. The ending gets me every time, but it's still feelgood.

Watched Titanic again the other week. Could not stop crying at the end.

Lots of lovely ideas, I would go with Somewhere in Time , Random Harvest and the film Up. They are the ones that will guarantee tears for me!

Hachi - a dogs tale
had me crying so much the cat hid under the sofa

I was dehydrated after crying at this film

Lansonmaid · 30/12/2025 14:16

Gallipoli
The mission
I left the cinema in floods after the ending of both of these films.
also the bit in the Elephant Man where he cries out that he is a human being. Sublime acting from John Hurt through his voice, as you can’t see his face for the make up.

Mamma Mia. Slipping through my fingers gets me sobbing every time as the mum of a now grown up daughter.
