Better or worse than you expected?

Mine has been nice, thought it would be sad due to some circumstances, but on the whole it's been pretty good.

Pretty dull. Lovely church service this morning, laid flowers on my mums grave and then home to look after aged dad.

Food (cooked by me) was good. Enough but not too much booze.

Not a single present for me to open though.

I too am going to bed soon so it’ll all be over.

MyRoseRaven · 25/12/2025 20:21

Simple and relaxing

Tyburnx · 25/12/2025 20:23

Got up 4pm. Ate a bag of crisps. Went back to bed. Best xmas ever!

vanillalattes · 25/12/2025 20:24

Absolutely lovely.

We had a lie in, took the dog for a long (and muddy) walk by the beach, came home, cooked dinner, ate and cleared up, then spent the rest of the day on the sofa watching Christmas films :)

We had some leftovers earlier and are currently demolishing the Baileys and watching Great British Bake-Off. Perfect 😌

Elmspringwater · 25/12/2025 20:26

Ive had a lovely time.
Woke at 11.30am.
had no chores to do, one small load of washing.
Bingeing online with films.
Had a noddle for lunch plenty of coffee and snack.
Its been blissful.

starrynight009 · 25/12/2025 20:26

Not bad although I think I told my bossy 6yo DD to "stop trying to control Christmas" about a hundred times. My DP cooked Christmas lunch, which I appreciated.

I always find the build-up to Christmas far more fun than Christmas Day itself.

Farticus101 · 25/12/2025 20:26

Lovely! I don't celebrate Christmas but I bought decorations and yummy food so have been chilling with DC, eating the delicious food, playing games and watching films. Lots of cosy blanket time and cuddles! Going to do the same next year.

ViciousCurrentBun · 25/12/2025 20:28

Lovely, DS GF spent last couple of days with us, lovely young woman, they left around 4 to go to her parents after dinner and presents. Had board games over last couple of days, lots of food and laughs. Fell asleep after they left watching the old black and white version of A Christmas Carol, I did a full Christmas dinner on 23 as well as DH sister joined us.

Rosa1211 · 25/12/2025 20:38

I've had better. Husband bought me some awful old lady slippers/ bootees from China. I'd spied a large pot of Elemis marine cream in his post earlier in the month; must have been for another woman. I also came across a search on his phone for local milfs ( I needed to look up what they were, thought it might be a football team).

NessShaness · 25/12/2025 20:44

Better than expected!

Christmas can be hard after bereavement, and the first hour was really hard for my ND child, but we’ve spent a lot of time together playing games, eating well, and my gifts were really lovely. It’s been a good one x

lighttherapy · 25/12/2025 21:00

been good for us. Quite slow and peaceful, just 4 of us, including one teen and one tween, no major arguments, had two main meals, a little walk, some card games, now everyone is having their own time.

Oldandgreyer · 25/12/2025 21:00

In-laws came to dinner..We ate a lot. Dinner was excellent
They both have memory issues. That is not so excellent.

TheHouse · 25/12/2025 21:03

Wonderful, stress-free, indulgent. Summed up
in a few words.

bluebella79 · 25/12/2025 21:06

Up before dawn, then woke up dp with a coffee. Came back downstairs about 8:30am and opened presents. Ds25 came down at 10:00 and opened his and ds20 I woke at 11:30 who then came down and opened his! I had lovely gifts off dp and both ds's far more than I was expecting. Cooked lamb and beef for lunch which we had about 5pm and everyone except me cleared their plates. Cuddled up on the sofa now with dp watching Your Christmas or Mine 2 and just ate our cheesecake dessert. Ds's are in their room's chatting to friends. It's been a lovely chilled day. Everyone loved their gifts, and we've spent time together. Tomorrow we visit all parents and give their gifts. Dm was invited but declined said she'd rather spend the day reading a book. Df is disabled and has carers 4 times a day. I'll probably get it in the neck from aint about not visiting today- sigh. Going down MIL first thing before she goes over SIL.

Pinkladyapplepie · 25/12/2025 21:06

Can I ask- why are you still with him?

Zoec1975 · 25/12/2025 21:09

Ok but sad.mother in law passed in August and it has hung heavy over us all today.

Rosa1211 · 25/12/2025 21:22

bluebella79 · 25/12/2025 21:07

Can I ask- why are you still with him?

After nearly 50 years of marriage I feel I've left it too late to change my situation, and I hate myself every day for it.

user1492538376 · 25/12/2025 21:33

Lovely and totally exhausting - we hosted for 16 people - 13 adults and 3 children. It was busy, chaotic but fun - now slumped on the sofa and looking forward
to doing very little on Boxing Day.

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/12/2025 21:38

Surprisingly normal and uneventful, considering mum has dementia and can be quite a handful.

Crunchymum · 25/12/2025 21:39

Better than expected. I'm still getting over the flu but today is the first day I've felt anywhere close to normal and had an appetite. After a week of not being able to stomach even the thought of food, Christmas dinner was a delight.

Saw family, played some games, listened to music, ate good food. It was a lovely day.

Fontet · 25/12/2025 21:39

AWFUL

Glenthebattleostrich · 25/12/2025 21:43

Perfect. Got lovely gifts, ate nice party food, free bubbles (gift from the boss), bailey and a wonderfully relaxed day with DH, DD and D Dog.

We opted out of the manicness of Christmas a few years ago and now just please ourselves!

Glenthebattleostrich · 25/12/2025 21:44

Rosa1211, it is never too late. Please give yourself a late christmas gift and LTB. You deserve to be happy.

stomachamelon · 25/12/2025 21:47

@Rosa1211 sending you a hug. It’s never too late.
