Mini eggs in Morrisons petrol.

No I don’t need or even want to buy.

The point is we the consumer are saturated in this shite months before the time of year.

I give precisely zero fucks about Poundlands seemingly ridiculous inability to put 10,000 Easter eggs in whether et their equivalents of a online delivery basket are.

That isn’t why this stuff is in shops. It is greed and stupidity. Greed on the part of the retailers. Stupidity for falling for it by the consumers and for not saying stop!

It’s just chocolate eggs, it’s really not that deep.

There is always a small amount of Easter stock out before Christmas, it’s not new. Mini eggs are DSs favourite and I buy them from the easter section for his stocking every year

It's a fairly recent thing to have it out before Christmas.

Anonimiss · 22/12/2025 20:04

I’m a terrible heathen,
I bought some Cadbury mini eggs the other day from B&M.
I’ve eaten them already🤭

Lots of shops have and it’s the same every year.

I did laugh at a TikTok video of someone filming Easter eggs in their local Spar saying ‘We haven’t even celebrated the birth of Jesus yet but Spar are already getting ready for his resurrection. 😂😂😂

ThatChihuahuaMakesMeLaugh · 22/12/2025 20:12

On the plus side, my kids will be happy as they have crème eggs and mini eggs in their box of treats for Xmas!

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 22/12/2025 20:21

Well it shouldn't be. That's the point.

This is only a very recent thing that retailers seem to be doing, and it's the first time I've seen actual Easter eggs (not just mini eggs or creme eggs) in a shop serveral days before Christmas.

The suntan lotion and picnic sets will be out next, you mark my words.

Beach wear will be out in Tesco by Saturday !

Needmorelego · 22/12/2025 19:57

The thing is...
In order for stock to magically appear on the shelves on Boxing Day shop assistants have to either work late on Christmas Eve after the shop has closed to put the stock out or even (rare but it happens) go in on Christmas Day to fill the shelves.
So they're on the shelves now....who cares?

But why does Easter stuff need to be on sale any earlier than February? It makes no sense to me at all.

soccermum10 · 22/12/2025 20:27

Doesn't surprise me 🤦‍♀️ B&M were clearing their christmas shelves the other day. They've put storage boxes on them at the moment (probably for all the new kids toys lol) Bet they have Easter eggs on them on 27th 😆

Other opinions are available. It’s just chocolate. No reason it shouldn’t be available earlier.

66babe · 22/12/2025 20:35

I’m also fuming that I’ve just seen a holiday advert on tv ! That should be Boxing Day surely ! 🤭

Why shouldn’t it be? What’s the harm? The chocolate is already made, so why not put it out.

How much earlier would you like?

Why don't they just sell Easter eggs, Christmas decorations, Valentines clutter and Halloween costumes all year round then? 😂

Our Poundland is closing so I thought these were just left over stock but maybe not! DD and I took one look at the queues and ran away!

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 22/12/2025 20:00

Oh I see what's happened here. You are under the impression that I don't know that sort of thing. As it happens, I do. I also know that nobody needs to buy Easter eggs on the 27th December.

Exactly.
No one has to buy them so does it matter if they are sat there on the salesfloor?
Just ignore them.

purpleme12 · 22/12/2025 20:42

I know
I've had a creme egg already

It's definitely earlier this year though
Usually it's after Christmas

Some shops kind of do.
If they have a general "seasonal" department then it's devoted to seasonal stock.

madaboutpurple · 22/12/2025 20:44

I love having an Easter egg, seems far too early for me. I won't buy mine for a good few months. I do like crème eggs though.

Large storage boxes are literally filler products.
Shops don't want empty shelves.
They're running out of Christmas stock so need something that can be quick and easy to put on the shelves to make them look full.

Ifailed · 22/12/2025 20:46

They've been selling xmas shit since August. People buy it and shops are there to make a profit.

Needmorelego · 22/12/2025 20:46

Okiedokie123 · 22/12/2025 20:27

Because shops have a dedicated section for seasonal products.
Easter is the next big seasonal event so the stock starts to come in.

It wouldn’t bother me. I’d just ignore it if I didn’t want it yet, but Easter eggs for Xmas is a great thing for my kids. 😜

dnadiscoveryquery · 22/12/2025 20:47

Even back in the 90’s when I worked in Woolies they’d be stocking Easter Eggs this time.

Yep.
Fellow Woolies worker can confirm that.
We had a massive stockroom so generally didn't put the eggs out before Christmas but my Christmas Eve stockroom shift consisted of getting all the Boxing Day sale products (specially bought in stock that was sold cheap - not left over Christmas stuff) lined up in roll cages ready to be put on the sales floor the second we had shoved the last customer out the door and then sorting out the delivery of Easter stock that had just arrived into the now empty stockroom space.
