... but they've got Easter eggs on the shelves in Poundland.

Because shops have a dedicated section for seasonal products.
Easter is the next big seasonal event so the stock starts to come in.

And they couldn’t possibly manage to not do that, not have a seasonal aisle for a bit.
Clearly totally impossible

BotterMon · 22/12/2025 21:27

Yep DD bought 2 creme eggs at the petrol station on 13th December and ate both. I couldn't face one in December!

BCBird · 22/12/2025 21:29

Thunk I saw Creme Eggs in November.

Elliemayclampett · 22/12/2025 21:49

I had a crème egg last week.. it was delicious

Easter eggs or creme eggs? There’s a difference.

So much moving around of stock is bloody time consuming and annoys customers because they can't find their regular purchases.
When I was working at Woolies they were obsessed with constantly moving and changing the displays. I probably spent more time moving stock than selling it 😂
It's easier to have dedicated sections for "seasonal" and to keep them as that all year around.
Empty shelves look bad. Shops want to sell things. So they put stock on the shelves and people buy it.
If you don't want to look at Easter Eggs in January then just avoid the seasonal section.

Okiedokie123 · 22/12/2025 23:45

@Needmorelego they could so easilyput something else in that spot for a month. Zero need to shove Easter at us months before Easter. Or Back to School kit before the kids have broken up for school hols etc. It’s so tiresome. I hate theendless commercialisation of everything, Endlessly trying to get us all to buy buy buy more stuff.
Im old tired and grumbly sorry!
I do agree though that more Lego is always a good thing! 😀

Needmorelego · 22/12/2025 23:51

@Okiedokie123 a lot of shops do have the "January filler" products that they put in the seasonal sections - large bulky items that are quick to put out and fill up the space. So that's things like large plastic tubs, packs of pillows and quilts etc.
But shops are always going to put out what sells.
People might complain about Easter eggs on the shelves 2 days before Christmas....but then they buy them 🤷

I was in the Christmas section. The Easter eggs were among the Christmas stuff. I didn't mention it earlier, but they had a load of Valentine's tat as well.

Thrilled to report that in Vancouver, Mini Eggs are available all year round.

If you go in Poundland, you’re going to be surrounded by ‘tat’. I’d say things like Easter eggs that will be eaten are some of the least problematic things in there. And obviously it’s not just a Christmas section you’re in if there was Easter and Valentines stuff there.

Yes but as one seasonal event ends the next moves in. Sometimes there's a crossover.

Leavmealone · 23/12/2025 05:49

I've wrapped 1 each for DD and her DP to give to them for Christmas...2 birds, 1 stone and all that.

hellohenf · 23/12/2025 06:32

This is why so many people no longer feel “christmassy”. Shops pushing products months in advance. When everything is marketed so early, it loses any kind of meaning. People don’t experience the seasons through nature, the weather or even the traditional church calendar anymore. Easter effectively starts in December, Christmas in August and Halloween in June. By the time the actual celebrations arrive, people are already oversaturated and tired of it all. With col and constant exposure to this kind of hyper retail cycle it’s no surprise that people will simply disengage.

BerryTwister · 23/12/2025 07:40

I’ve never understood why shops display seasonal products so ridiculously early. I understand they need to order them in advance, but not months in advance. Surely it loses them money. The Easter eggs will be sitting on a shelf, taking up the space that could be used by something people will actually buy.

I remember being in M&S in early January, looking for warm pyjamas. It was bloody cold, and there was snow on the ground. I couldn’t find warm pyjamas, because it turned out they had removed the winter clothing, and had brought in their summer range. Tiny little vests and shorts. No one would be buying any of that for at least 2 months.

Pinkclarko · 23/12/2025 08:01

They’re on the shelves because poor people generally have to prepare for celebrations in instalments.

source: I am one 😆

Newsenmum · 23/12/2025 08:02

Who is buying them? I dont get it. They only stock of they get bought.

Oh I see what's happened here. You are under the impression that I don't know that sort of thing. As it happens, I do. I also know that nobody needs to buy Easter eggs on the 27th December.

People must be buying the Easter eggs otherwise they would not waste store shelf space by having them on display

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/12/2025 08:12

Our eldest works at ASDA, he’s said they’ll be putting them out by the end of the week.

Meredusoleil · 23/12/2025 08:14

I mean, I'm all for advance planning and prep and like to buy things ahead of when I need them, as I like to be organised. But Easter eggs before Christmas is a step too far imho!

ElizabethsTailor · 23/12/2025 08:16

Fantastic! That’s made my day 😊

I get sad when the Christmas build up is done, but I absolutely love Easter egg chocolate, so was just thinking it would be something to look forward to.

Yes they sell.
It's one of those mysterious things of life.... people complain about them being there yet simultaneously people buy them.
Sometimes...even more mysteriously the complainers and the buyers are the same people 😂😂

Newsenmum · 23/12/2025 08:03

Absolutely 😁-I was 50% joking. Probably will start squirrelling away chocolate in about March though!
