Her bowl is FULL of the only foid she will eat. She's eaten it for the 11 years shes been alive. Except, since saturday mirning, she has decided that it is not acceptable.

She will make an exception for dreamies, so i have sprinkled a few on top. Sniffs. Walks away. Gets under my feet. Tried a different flavour of dreamies. Sniffs. Walks away. Meows. Trips me up.

What she wants, is for me to empty the bowl and refill with FRESH UNSNIFFED BISCUITS.

(Shes not il, teeth are fine)

Who will give in first?

I can verify the appeal of BBC Big Cats and YouTube - here's Marvin glued to the Big Cat action and watching the birds on YouTube

One of my cats liked show jumping and snooker.

My late cat (passed in July) used to watch the snooker with DH. I miss him very much.

Maybe the food supplier changed the recipe .. and your cat noticed?!?

This happened with my ex in laws cat - he was given kitzyme (I think name was!) and would bite your hand off!

He just went off it - they took to the vet as they thought he was unwell but then ex read the product reviews and lots of cat owners had same issue - turned out product manufacturers may have tried to save money, and just lost lots of customers!! ..

Get a dog (preferably a terrier) that will sort her out.

Zonkconk97 · 21/12/2025 18:04

I tip the sniffed at but uneaten food into another clean dish and present that to her ladyship. That usually works.

We had one who loved showjumping and snooker!! It was back in olden times when tvs were cube shaped. She would sit on top of the telly and swipe at the snooker balls. Very upset when we upgraded to a flat tv.

Oh I've just had a flashback to my much loved old cat! We had just got rid of the big TV and bought a flatscreen. Cat ran in, jumped up, slid the length of the TV and managed a dismount a gymnast would be proud of. Then ensued much embarrassed fur licking as he tried to make us forget what we'd just seen.

You are being very unreasonable to not have done has the cat has instructed..

Laura95167 · 21/12/2025 19:01

Mine does this, tucked a live mouse in his toy box and his bed... and let to date 3 Robins, a starling and 2 thrushes loose in the livingroom to show me what a good "hunter" he is.

Mtlso · 21/12/2025 19:48

Blame it on the moon. Genuinely, you can read the science behind it.

Darklane · 21/12/2025 19:53

You do know?

Dogs have masters

Cats have staff

MidnightMeltdown · 21/12/2025 20:48

Did you bulk order? This is cat’s favourite trick. As soon as they know you have a huge supply of their favourite food, they immediately refuse to eat it.

TaterTots68 · 21/12/2025 21:22

OP I feel your pain. My beautiful tuxedo cat is a complete pita when it comes to food. She doesn't really like wet food and much prefers the dry stuff. But...she begs for wet food multiple times a day. If I just put a portion of biscuits in her bowl, it is not enough, she needs a full bowl (which is enough for around 3 days). But...she enjoys actually being fed, so she'll act like she's half starved. When I put wet food out for her (she will only entertain Gourmet Perle), she licks the gravy off and leaves it. Half an hour later, she's bugging us to be fed again! It's a cat thing

Nannylovesshopping · 21/12/2025 21:24

I just love a cat with attitude 😳🤣

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 21/12/2025 21:27

Is it a new bag of biscuits? Maybe they changed the recipe?

BerryandMight · 21/12/2025 21:56

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 21/12/2025 09:22

The offender.

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine I don't want to alarm you but has your vet examined your cats left eye? I ask because my cat had dark patches in their iris like that which was pre-cancerous. We had them monitored every 6 months and then had their eye removed. It had turned cancerous. DCat is fine now with one eye.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 21/12/2025 14:40

UPDATE.

I WON!! Kind of. She deigned to eat about a third of the food, so the chickens benefited from the rest and she has a fresh portion of dry food. Exactly the same dry food. Tucking in enthusiastically.

Cats are arseholes.

oh dear. I think you will soon realise you just think you won.

I've seen them playing snooker, but how did you get a saddle small enough?

I'll get me coat.

😂

Will she eat the dreamies - if not you know there’s something wrong!

Thats how i knew my cat was poorly. Had a temp of 40°

Selttan · 21/12/2025 10:36

My car pretty much gets a buffet every meal.
shes worn me down over the years with her very loud and annoying meowing.
the rescue told me she was talkative. She’s not chatty she just likes to yell at me. I’m convinced she thinks I’m deaf. And she’s worked out if she sits at the bottom of the stairs or goes in the bathroom her meow is amplified.

Standing with you in solidarity, from one slave to another. I also have a noise cat (when I adopted her the story was that she hated her carrier and this is why she was shouting so much. Turns out that was just her default) 😂

Bunny65 · 21/12/2025 23:36

You have to realise that she runs the household

Efrogwraig · 21/12/2025 23:58

Having the very same standoff at the moment. Tuna/salmon/cod all fine. White fish??? Pfffft.

White fish was fine yesterday. 🤦

Not giving in till tomorrow in case hunger overcomes during the night (yeah, who am l kidding?)

Chattanoogachoo · 22/12/2025 01:30

I can't keep dreamies in the house as my house cat will wreck the entire kitchen to get at them.
He'll eat the pillow shaped pieces of Whiskas dry food and refuse the rest. One day he wants jelly sachets, another day it's only gravy.Usually he'll decline the one which has just been delivered

SouthernNights59 · 22/12/2025 05:14

No-one ever won a standoff with a cat 🐱Might as well just give in for a peaceful life.

@BerryandMight shes had this patch in her eye all her life and is 11, i did have the vets look at it a couple of times years ago as it is quite odd but has always been there.
