Her bowl is FULL of the only foid she will eat. She's eaten it for the 11 years shes been alive. Except, since saturday mirning, she has decided that it is not acceptable.

She will make an exception for dreamies, so i have sprinkled a few on top. Sniffs. Walks away. Gets under my feet. Tried a different flavour of dreamies. Sniffs. Walks away. Meows. Trips me up.

What she wants, is for me to empty the bowl and refill with FRESH UNSNIFFED BISCUITS.

(Shes not il, teeth are fine)

Who will give in first?

You realise that he bowl has to be in the right position try moving slightly to the left or right or forwards or back.

My car pretty much gets a buffet every meal.
shes worn me down over the years with her very loud and annoying meowing.
the rescue told me she was talkative. She’s not chatty she just likes to yell at me. I’m convinced she thinks I’m deaf. And she’s worked out if she sits at the bottom of the stairs or goes in the bathroom her meow is amplified.

Thanks, you’ve just solved the mystery as to why mine sits at the bottom of the stairs yelling. I think it’s imprinted in my memory for life, looking down at the ginger furry bowling ball, her mouth stubbornly set and eyes wide. Generally demanding god knows what, but smug in achieving her aim of me appearing at the top of the stairs to look at her.

My childhood cat used to dramatically fling himself on to his back on the kitchen floor when it was food time. Literally like a swooning Victorian.

He then started getting a bit chonky.

Turned out he was putting his Oscar-worthy performance on for me, my sister and our parents, separately, twice a day for WEEKS!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 21/12/2025 14:40

UPDATE.

I WON!! Kind of. She deigned to eat about a third of the food, so the chickens benefited from the rest and she has a fresh portion of dry food. Exactly the same dry food. Tucking in enthusiastically.

Cats are arseholes.

you will give in. and when you have just bought a multipack of cat food she will go off it completely. They read the receipts

Oooh I might try youtube videos for mine.

We had a dog who loved watching Crufts. She was especially fond of the agility classes.

One of my cats liked show jumping and snooker.

Catpiece · 21/12/2025 15:04

So much to learn. The cat can keep mithering for far longer than you can keep ignoring. You’ll crack eventually x

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/12/2025 15:10

Aww bless, she’s gorgeous. One of mine is a fussy bugger. I generally have to give him a range of ever-increasing-in-price dishes in the hope he will deign to eat one. The others have clocked this and now no one will touch anything that doesn’t have gold leaf through the ethically reared and caught tuna..

I've seen them playing snooker, but how did you get a saddle small enough?

I'll get me coat.

Sleep with one eye open is all I can say.

SnowTrouble · 21/12/2025 15:25

We inherited a cat that had never, ever had treats. Once she'd tasted Dreamies she stopped eating anything else - because why would you bother? It took weeks to get her to accept she wasn't going to live solely on a diet of dreamies and lickelix.

This!!

JohnTheRevelator · 21/12/2025 15:51

You will,of course! After many years of being a cat servant,I have come to the conclusion that a cat will rather starve than eat something they (supposedly) don't like.

crazeekat · 21/12/2025 16:27

U are merely the servant. Change the bowl, get some fresh chicken breasts and cook them pronto. In the meantime put the huge bowl of biscuits out and get russling up some more munchies for that poor starved cat before he/she phones Catline on u.

Newdoggo · 21/12/2025 16:31

Mine will eventually eat it and then throw it back up in the most annoying place, like sat on top of a chest of drawers with fresh washing below making sure it hits every surface 🙄

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 21/12/2025 16:32

Shes already laying in wait. She is NOT allowed on the bed. As you can see.

You will!

Similar standoff daily with my dcat….. except with soft food. If the food has been left for longer then 2 mins to have a minuscule hint of dryness = won’t eat.
If insufficient dreamies have not been given = won’t eat.
If dry food too dry = won’t eat.

9 out of 10 times he is also able to successfully convince each member of the family coming home that he hasn’t yet had dreamies by sitting and staring mournfully at the dreamies cupboard.

We have a "but it's gone dry" cat...except she's not the brightest and turning it over with a spoon so they 'dry' bit is hidden at the bottom of the bowl tricks her every time! Grin

Buy a lottery ticket immediately, it’s obviously your lucky day

ilovepixie · 21/12/2025 17:00

Aw she’s lovely.

CraftyNavySeal · 21/12/2025 17:02

I’ve been known to tip the food back in the box and then scoop it out again!

Dollymylove · 21/12/2025 17:10

I think we both own the same cat 🤣

One of my cats liked show jumping and snooker.

We had one who loved showjumping and snooker!! It was back in olden times when tvs were cube shaped. She would sit on top of the telly and swipe at the snooker balls. Very upset when we upgraded to a flat tv.
