Does the link work? Obviously it does for me because it’s my account!

Yes!

Shouldn't she be at home making sure behind the fridge is clean ?

😁

Notonthestairs · 04/01/2026 14:29

Can’t think why social media owners might skew right.

BIossomtoes · 04/01/2026 14:31

I’d like to see an independent evaluation.

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2026 14:44

I think the otehr thing to consider is that MN has aged. Apparently, the older generation are more likely to vote to the right and pro Brexit. This is not an ageist comment and I am sure many of the poster s on this thread who are 60+ will take it in the correct spirit - there are definitley far more posters on here these days in their 60s and 70s. This affects discourse. Although many seem not to agree the discourse of FWR (and many of their main posters when they wander away from FWR) is very identifiably right : you can especially see thsi when you find them on threads about immigration, CITME and even invading Telly Addicts as 'guest speakers'.

The article points out that 1/3 of MN live in London and the SE so there will be plenty of Lib Dems too. Maybe they speak up less / less aggressively.

Discourse analysis on MN would provide a different view of trans identities , as an example not meant to stir the pot, than other wider surveys have suggested are views help in the wider population and particularly amongst women.

I think there is a distend posse of MN posters who are wrong footed when they suddenly come to realise that not all women outside of their bubble agree with them.

The same is levelled at left leaning/left wingers, obviously, too.

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2026 14:49

Oh, and MN is also undoubtedly very white which also affects discourse.

Am I the only one who doesn't really trust the thread that popped up on the article?

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2026 14:53

The OP felt the need to namechange.......

When it comes to politics, I don't trust a lot of what is posted on SM.

PandoraSocks · 04/01/2026 14:53

Be careful. There are 👀 on us.

Yes.

It feels like there have been a lot of similar threads started seemingly without agenda recently. It comes back to Labour being naive about comms, mind.

Nothing we have said is reportable!

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2026 14:55

I know, just pointing out an easy verifiable fact.

I have just noticed all the typos in my earlier post! Och well, you get the gist!

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2026 14:58

Another example is ScotsNet actually. The posters on there do seem to be very anti SNP and skew quite rightwards. You could take that as representative of the whole of Scotland - or consider that there may be a 'house belief'.

Sorry, am probably being over cautious! But I once was told off by mnhq for mentioning name changing by posters.

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2026 15:08

There isn't really anything in that article that hadn't been picked up by many posters anyway. And not just the ones on this thread.

MNHQ telling you off for that Confused

We've got quite a lot of snow. It's like a Winter Wonderland scene here right now. I'm just glad I don't need to head out to work tomorrow morning.

That sounds very pretty.

Re: the ST article. I wonder whether we will now get an influx of Reform supporting posters as a result? Or maybe an influx of left wingers who fancy the challenge of refuting the right wing narratives?

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2026 15:29

I expect the first.

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2026 15:31

The former, certainly.

Re: the ST article. I wonder whether we will now get an influx of Reform supporting posters as a result?

How would we know ?

I think it would be noticeable. Same as when there was an uptick when the Southport murders happened, for example. And when there were the train stabbings.

It was supposed to be a tad light hearted, what with it only 4 days into a new year 😀

On a more serious note, until pollsters start to work out how to reslice their data to account for the fact that people under 20 have a completely different relationship to those between 20 and 40 (or so my tame 30 year old education advisor says) it would be wise to take polls with a little bit of critical thinking.

Sorry, I did wonder!

I know it's been a bright cloudless day but definitely stayed light longer today
