I think the otehr thing to consider is that MN has aged. Apparently, the older generation are more likely to vote to the right and pro Brexit. This is not an ageist comment and I am sure many of the poster s on this thread who are 60+ will take it in the correct spirit - there are definitley far more posters on here these days in their 60s and 70s. This affects discourse. Although many seem not to agree the discourse of FWR (and many of their main posters when they wander away from FWR) is very identifiably right : you can especially see thsi when you find them on threads about immigration, CITME and even invading Telly Addicts as 'guest speakers'.
The article points out that 1/3 of MN live in London and the SE so there will be plenty of Lib Dems too. Maybe they speak up less / less aggressively.
Discourse analysis on MN would provide a different view of trans identities , as an example not meant to stir the pot, than other wider surveys have suggested are views help in the wider population and particularly amongst women.
I think there is a distend posse of MN posters who are wrong footed when they suddenly come to realise that not all women outside of their bubble agree with them.
The same is levelled at left leaning/left wingers, obviously, too.
