I don't know where else to paste this, it's about a guy, not drunk or on drugs but stressed who lost it and rammed through people in a crowd. He's on trial.

I find myself thinking that it's absolutely an example of the state of our roads, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Where I live, edge of the Cotswolds, the roads are jammed and people break the rules all the time, not giving way, especially on roundabouts, speeding, cutting in where there isn't space, tail gating, flashing lights, using mobile phones while driving, just generally pushing their way through. The size of modern cars with their horrendous, blinding headlights doesn't help, nor do all the potholes. And then there's the anti cyclist rage which is usually pointless and nitpicking.

Round our way, cows on the local common get mown down by hit and run drivers. I'm afraid I get this guy. Apparently he keeps crying in the dock, I feel sorry for him

An "out of control" Paul Doyle was "completely sober" when he ploughed into football fans.

I will never trust the government ever again in my lifetime.

What does the government have to do with this case?

Paul Doyle was convicted of 31 offences at Liverpool Crown Court:

  • dangerous driving
  • nine counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent
  • 17 counts of attempting to causing grievous bodily harm
  • three counts of wounding with intent
  • one count of affray

Still feeling sorry for him @IthinkIamAnAlien ?

toooldforbrat · 16/12/2025 17:27

what a surprise :

Doyle appears to have used the FarOut Caps Twitter/X account as his own personal page, where he would post about popular shooter video game Fortnite and cryptocurrency, a topic of particular fascination for him.

Doyle followed just 11 accounts, but this short list includes several controversial figures, including Reform leader Nigel farage , Elon Musk, and 'manosphere' influencer Andrew Tate.

21yrs is a good sentence.

Are you saying you feel sorry for him because he’s just one of many people who can’t control their behaviour when driving, yet he’s the one who’s facing a long jail term?

I am a cyclist too and I cycle defensively because so many car drivers simply don’t concentrate or actively target cyclists. I have to have my wits about me constantly to anticipate drivers’ next moves because you can be sure that they haven’t bothered to check their mirrors.

Every road rage incident should result in prosecution. But this is way beyond beeping your horn or tailgating, this is a man who lost control of himself to the point that he deliberately drove his car into a huge crowd. He didn’t care if he killed anyone. That article says he’s not a terrorist but I’d disagree.

Am I alone in thinking he probably wasn’t such a reformed character as people said, and his wife and kids are maybe breathing a sigh of relief tonight? Anger like that doesn’t just appear one day. I suspect they’ve been quietly bearing the brunt of it for years.

I don't feel sorry for him but I do for his family.

Something happened. He drove normally to drop of a friend but noticeably more aggressively on the way back.

And then was in an even more wound up state on the return journey which was several hours later.

But most of it doesn't fit with the impression others had of his usual state. And yet no drink or drugs. It is very odd.

Reports of prior violent acts are in the news.

Eaglemom · 16/12/2025 21:31

I am amazed at the sheer amount of comments on social media from people making excuses and fewljng sorry for him.
He is a violent nasty piece of work who thought he had the right to mow down innocent families and people feel sorry for him? No wonder male violence continues.
Massive racist element too because we all know what the comments would be had he been anything other than white.

Alpacajigsaw · 16/12/2025 21:40

So he bit a sailor’s ear off 32 years ago

Apparently been a model citizen since then

Then mows down over 100 innocent people in a fit of rage

I wonder what kind of story his wife and kids have to tell of what he’s like behind closed doors. It’s hard to think this behaviour was in a vacuum

Newyearsameme26 · 16/12/2025 22:00

I was thinking that about his wife and kids. They will know the real him.
