Anyone under 65 thinking of the flu jab

My local pharmacy had 6 under 65 jabs left today and doesn't know when they are getting any more in, so today is probably a good time!

They were going to phone people who had booked next week (me) to tell them to come in now.

Luckily, I figured it was going to be cancelled, as my covid jab was also cancelled today, so popped in.

I got mine this morning. My dad has a lung issue so don’t want to risk it.

felt guilt as I should have done it much earlier in the year.

I got mine a few weeks ago at Morrisons. I’m 57, but have a bad chest.

I paid for mine in September (it was £15 back then). I pay for it every year.

Yes, I have young kids and don't want to be struck down with flu over the holidays. I had it a couple of years ago and was ill for weeks with it. Ruined Xmas. My husband was totally exhausted as he had to look after them as I was basically bed bound. Horrible.

I get one free at work. I will continue to get it until my kids are a bit older and not as exhausting.

BellissimoGecko · 13/12/2025 22:02

I had mine back in September. I don’t know why people don’t just book them at the start of the flu season 🤷🏼‍♀️

NeedWineNow · 13/12/2025 22:24

I used to get a free one at work, then got the one from the NHS when they were doing them with the COVID jab for the over 50’s.

Since that stopped I’ve paid for one at Boots as I won’t be eligible for a free one for another couple of years (assuming it stays at 65). I booked mine as soon as I got a reminder and had it on 29 September. DH had his flu jab at our local surgery a couple of weeks later. My mum is 89 and her doctor came out and did hers at home a couple of weeks ago.

@ADHDdiagnosis only had it this morning. Will update Sunday. Hoping won’t happen. Work tomorrow so if happens, hope will be your experience, and Sunday will be the day 😷

I feel a lot better today - more normal anyway- I definitely wasnt right yesterday. Maybe as I’m older and my health not as good I’m weaker.

next year I will try to be organised and book at the start of flu season and also anticipate feeling tired and book for a weekend.

Yes I felt flat for 3-4 days in the end. Am thinking booking for a Weds PM or Thurs AM next time, then if I start feeling ropey Thursday, I know it's just Friday then a weekend.

It's hard as it wasn't enough to be off sick for, but also just felt quite listless and like what's the point to anything 😂.

Got mine at work (NHS) as I always do. They used to offer us the covid jab as well, but that seems to have stopped this year, sadly.

julesagain · 20/12/2025 16:09

I had mine and my covid booster weeks ago as I'm immunosuppressed. Wouldn't miss it as as I would most likely be very poorly with either and I get chest infections at the drop of a hat and Ammoxycillin doesn't cut it anymore.

DramaAlpaca · 20/12/2025 16:12

I got mine in October as it's offered free of charge to over 60s here in Ireland. I'm glad to have had it as flu is absolutely rife here at the moment. I've paid for it previously.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 21/12/2025 21:58

Got mine in Asda in October .

LaurieFairyCake · 21/12/2025 22:50

I had mine done the day they were released! I don’t fuck about with flu (self employed)
