...and so every day between now and Christmas I'll be bringing you some scenes of what they are getting up to during advent.

Today Marta is helping Matthias put up the Christmas decorations. She puts the last bauble on the tree.

Gisela has a chat to the Dean, while the children look at the pretty decorations.

Beautiful tree displays - and stained glass windows! 🎄🎄

Westfacing · 10/12/2025 08:45

How are the candles lit? 🕯️🕯️ I can't see any wires!

SoMuchToBits · 10/12/2025 08:48

@Westfacing the illuminated trees have internal wiring, and are battery powered. They each have a switch to press which illuminates them for a certain time period, then they switch off automatically (usually at just the point you have your scene set up just right and are about to press the shutter on the camera!). Xmas Grin

They do look particularly lovely after dark
Thank you @SoMuchToBits 🌟

HeadyLamarr · 10/12/2025 09:17

The illuminated trees are amazing!

PandoraSocks · 10/12/2025 09:27

Fabulous trees. The The Very Reverend Anselm Latimer is so perfectly named!

Thank you @SoMuchToBits for bringing a bit of Advent fun to MN.

LIZS · 10/12/2025 09:37

So pretty!

User1606042727 · 10/12/2025 10:09

Very pretty indeed. What a lovely festival to have.

Londonmummy66 · 10/12/2025 10:34

THank you for this - that must have taken ages to make the backdrop - I just love it when Churches have lots of trees its always so pretty. DH usually plays for the Carol Service in a church that has 20 odd and it is so festive.

MerylSqueak · 10/12/2025 10:47

Oh Wow! I want to propose a Christmas tree festival for our village hall! Reverend Latimer is an inspiration.

I think Miss Jennings and the other teachers might have lent the children a cheeky hand with those decorations!

Are there prizes for the trees? If so, Reverend Latimer wins!

HomeCountyHome · 10/12/2025 11:04

Great festival! Our local one has a stall selling jam and chutney and marmalade in aid of church funds. So much work goes into these sort of events (and SoMuch's scenes, of course!). Thank you all the Christmas elves.

Hello @WelcomeToDecemberItGetsWorseHereEveryDay ! I am here and should have been seeing @SoMuchToBits in RL for lunch today but am laid up in bed with a horrible bug.
Beautiful display at the Christmas Tree Festival today.

viques · 10/12/2025 11:43

Have caught up!

What a lovely thread, I am enchanted by the lit up Christmas trees, especially when the are displayed against the stained glass windows in the church, absolutely beautiful. I also enjoyed the Christmas market , so pleased it wasn’t a muddy one, and the delightful musical talents of the primary school brought back some memories, though I am relieved we haven’t got sound on

Cheered when the watch thieves were brought to book, a timely ( sorry.!) reminder to everyone to be extra vigilant as the scammers and pickpockets are out and about knowing that people are distracted and not always paying attention at this time of year.

Thankyou so much @SoMuchToBits , your threads are always such a delight. Looking forward to the next instalments.

Love all the Christmas trees, the lights are beautiful!

SoMuchToBits · 10/12/2025 12:30

Ah thank you all! I've been out at my band rehearsal this morning, playing lots of festive music, and yes should have been out with @petalpower for lunch now, but we've rearranged for next week. Hope you soon feel better petalpower!

I don't think there are any prizes for the trees. Our town had its tree festival last week. It's the largest church in the town, and had more than 90 trees! I can't find that many Playmo trees, but did get a couple of new sets with trees in this year, especially for these scenes! Xmas Smile

SoMuchToBits · 10/12/2025 14:56

Thank you @DirtyGertiefromno30 - I've never done a Christmas tree festival before. I had the idea after going to the real one in our town last year, and have been planning it all year! Xmas Grin

Laska2Meryls · 10/12/2025 19:21

Love the Christmas tree festival @SoMuchToBits , we are away in London at the moment and walked through the Christmas market at the Southbank today .. it's not a patch on the Playmo one ...
