Blokes taking off their trousers when at home

Is this just my DH or is it common for blokes to take off their trousers and hang around in their pants when at home with no guests around?

He is using your home as a giant pair of trousers. It is surely not hygenic to have just a thin piece of cotton beween the sofa and his bum hole.

Amused by this. I work in a public facing role, in a public building. By the time I get home, the outside of my pants is probably more hygienic than the outside of my trousers as they haven't been directly in contact with e.g. chairs that hundreds of people have sat on!

Finding it interesting about the grossed out people here. Never occurred to me to be bothered about that - I wonder if it's because people might have a mental image of it as a slobby, sweaty, unhygienic guy habit?

I can understand where that comes from but I will say DH is very scrupulous about personal hygiene, which is probably why it doesn't bother me on that angle.

I think just doesn't like the feeling of trousers- should add he has ADHD and probably on autism spectrum too, which might explain a lot

Get him lounge shorts for indoor comfort so his children don’t need to see his balls bounce about his boxers and he isn’t wiping his sweaty undies all over the couch others have to sit on 😃

Its no different really to shorts in the summer. Yes, there is one layer less round his bottom but come on, how much sweat do bottoms produce when walking about calmly.

Exactly. Outdoor clothes are far worse for sofas etc.

CuddlyPug · 26/11/2025 15:07

I never imagined such a thing. I can't even visualize my father or my husband or my sons doing this. Do they take their socks off as well?

Wheresmatty · 26/11/2025 15:09

First thing I do when I come home is take my clothes off, get bathed, change my pants, put on fluffy rubber gripped socks and a massive tshirt and that’s me done.

tinytemper66 · 26/11/2025 15:09

No.

Belladog1 · 26/11/2025 15:11

Phwoar. I wish my partner would do this more. Love watching him walk around in pants before the jeans go on.

That's different!

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 26/11/2025 15:29

Ugh. Just no.

Anyone doing that in this house would get short shrift from me.

No. Just your DH. In summer DH wears shorts. He never wanders around the house in just pants.

JustAn0therUsername · 26/11/2025 15:41

erm. No. If he’s been in the office he’ll change into comfier trousers and if it’s after his evening shower he’ll change into PJ bottoms. But he never hangs around in just pants and never has.

Sunshinesmon · 26/11/2025 15:43

Not my Dad, late DH, DP or DSs.

Some of them like to be comfy so will change into joggers or shorts, but I don't think I've ever seen any of them downstairs in their pants.

Echobelly · 26/11/2025 15:56

DH is wearing t-shirt/top, not just pants when he does it. He is actually wearing trousers this week as it's just too cold not to.

Get him comfortable indoor trousers/shorts. Very simple.

He could get them for himself?

My ex would take his trousers off and refused to even wear pants. We disagreed about it all the time and I remember a blazing row over his ginger pubes on the black sofa and my opinion guests shouldn’t have to suffer that being framed as controlling 🤢

Eeeew 🤢 What an arse (ugh, literally!!)

sonjadog · 26/11/2025 16:23

Yes, mine does this. He doesn't wear very small pants (fortunately), so he is fairly well covered up. I don't think there is a sensory element, he just likes it.

Sunshinesmon · 26/11/2025 16:24

I don't know anyone who does this.

I dont think it's a problem from a hygiene pov, there's just something disrespectful about it.

Wetoldyousaurus · 26/11/2025 17:12

Mine did - he lived alone for ages. I put up with it for a while until the kids got a bit older and started having friends around and he sometimes forgot and still did it. Or people turned up at the door unexpectedly. Also when his mum was staying. Enough was enough. Overall, just say no. Life is not a lingerie commercial. Pants let far too much out. Or in. Gross.

Craftysue · 26/11/2025 17:13

Not usual in my house - trousers would be swapped for shorts but not just pants

Or in.

That bit has me baffled!

Wickedlittledancer · 26/11/2025 17:18

I honestly find it quite scummy just sitting around in your pants.

GuyForksAndKnives · 26/11/2025 13:50

Christ this is one reason I dumped my ex. Seeing him snoring on the sofa in a shirt, green and white striped underpants and socks was terrible. And he wondered why I didn't fancy him.

lol YADNBU 😂 what an image!
