Blokes taking off their trousers when at home

Is this just my DH or is it common for blokes to take off their trousers and hang around in their pants when at home with no guests around?

Do you have children? I doubt they want to see their dad in his pants while they watch TV.

Well, they're 14 and 17 so they're pretty used to it by now! 😆 Not really sure what's so awful about kids seeing their parents in underwear - honestly my parents were naked a lot in the mornings when we were kids.

DS has been known to go un-trousered but I think hasn't been so keen since his teens

DP changes into shorts and a tshirt regardless of weather. Sometimes lounge shorts which seem to be jersey shorts!

CrotchetyQuaver · 26/11/2025 12:16

I was married to my late husband for over 30 years, he never did this, I don't remember any earlier boyfriends doing it either

Echobelly · 26/11/2025 12:16

Regarding weather, DH will throw on a blanket when it's cold.

My husband does this. As did a dad of a friend of mine when I was growing up (not when I was there, to be clear. He wasn’t a weirdo!).

No previous partners or my dad did though.

BadgernTheGarden · 26/11/2025 12:17

Change good work trousers into jeans probably, not wandering around in pants, did their mum allow it?

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 26/11/2025 12:18

He changes into shorts or jogging bottoms right away.

BadgernTheGarden · 26/11/2025 12:20

There was a thread about a teenage daughter wandering about in pants, even when there were workmen in the house.

Does he open the door to people? Does he tuck his shirt in?

Does he say why he does it? I would ask my dh to put shorts on if he insisted on going trouserless.

itsthetea · 26/11/2025 12:22

I could see that jeans and work trousers are not terribly comfortable but I would be encouraging joggers for around the home

Linzloopy · 26/11/2025 12:22

No. It’s distinctly odd. I think he needs some more comfortable trousers.

I think just doesn't like the feeling of trousers- should add he has ADHD and probably on autism spectrum too, which might explain a lot

Yep DH always just get into his pants at home. Pants and t shirt, I was a bit surprised at first as no one in my family ever did that. Once when we stayed in a hotel we had to get someone to come and fix the tv,once he left DH said ‘thank god I just want to get my jeans off!’

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/11/2025 12:27

I haven't known any men who do this but I know women who take off their bra or put pyjamas on when they get home.

Shorts, he needs Shorts 😀

Wickedlittledancer · 26/11/2025 12:28

i genuinely don’t know anyone who takes their trousers off and sits in their pants at home as a regular occurance. Man or woman.

Winteriscoming80 · 26/11/2025 12:30

As soon as dh come in he goes and puts his “house” shorts on as he calls them,he doesn’t like wearing outside clothes indoors,my dc’s are the same.

surreygirly · 26/11/2025 12:32

Yes or shorts

I think most people do that. It is very different from sitting in your pants.

DarkRootsBlue · 26/11/2025 12:39

My dad used to do this, until my mum told him to stop it as he had a teenage daughter (me). One of many reasons I suspect he is ND, I think you have to be pretty socially unaware to sit around in Y-fronts on a regular basis if you don’t live alone.

Burntt · 26/11/2025 12:43

My ex would take his trousers off and refused to even wear pants. We disagreed about it all the time and I remember a blazing row over his ginger pubes on the black sofa and my opinion guests shouldn’t have to suffer that being framed as controlling 🤢

GarlicHound · 26/11/2025 12:45

I've known several men do this. They wear boxers. Also known a few who wear shorts (longer, outdoor variety) outside in all weathers except snow. I prefer my legs uncovered, too!

Sweet story about your DS, @NuffSaidSam

Dartmoorcheffy · 26/11/2025 12:47

Dp changes into joggers or shorts (jogger material just above the knee ones) as soon aa he gets hone aa he wears heavy duty work trousers in day which are covered in brake dust and oil.

ResusciAnnie · 26/11/2025 12:47

Echobelly · 26/11/2025 11:41

I meant to ask if any women do it too, I was presuming some do

Edited

My friend does, talks about loving being at home in her underwear. I always change into something more comfortable as soon as I get home but am definitely not comfortable in my underwear! And I think if those around you aren’t comfortable with seeing you pants less then you should be considerate 😁

NotThatWay · 26/11/2025 12:51

I have never met a man who does this. I don't either.
