Blokes taking off their trousers when at home

Is this just my DH or is it common for blokes to take off their trousers and hang around in their pants when at home with no guests around?

None of the men folk in my family take their trousers off although one does like to change into shorts and we have plenty of ND

Isn’t it akin to a woman flinging her bra for comfort? That’s generally accepted isn’t it?

Coffeeishot · 26/11/2025 12:56

I remember my stepdad wandering around the house just in pants it gave me the creeps, that is maybe why im so adverse to it !

Travsmam · 26/11/2025 13:00

Hubby always puts a pair of shorts on as soon as he gets home

Calliopespa · 26/11/2025 13:02

It's been known to happen. Normally if they have been in more formal trousers and are soon going to shower etc; I can't imagine him taking off trackpants or jeans to do this.

I do this and I'm a woman. I hate having my legs trapped. (Not in the winter though it's freezing)

Me too.
In the summer in doors bottoms off.
Long baggy tshirt or baggy jumper and boxers.

RanchRat · 26/11/2025 13:12

He is using your home as a giant pair of trousers. It is surely not hygenic to have just a thin piece of cotton beween the sofa and his bum hole.

OurFriendJane · 26/11/2025 13:14

I've never known any men who do this.

ObtuseMoose · 26/11/2025 13:20

Nope, never known any men that do this.

pigmygoatsinjumpers · 26/11/2025 13:20

I've never known a man who did this, either.

Buy him a couple of nice sarongs for Christmas.

PennywisePoundFoolish · 26/11/2025 13:22

DH changes into what we refer to as his Apartment Pants, they're tatty joggers he'd never wear in public.

DS3, 12, is usually just in pants at home. He has a lot of sensory issues (dx ASD and ADHD) and usually only wears shorts outside all year round. Though yesterday accepted some joggers.

I have a couple of dresses I'd never wear outside as they're horribly unflattering, but very comfy which I generally change into when I'm home as I don't really like trousers.

Bluebellforest1 · 26/11/2025 13:23

My friend’s husband does this and sits around in his pants and a t shirt. They live fairly rurally and don’t have people “dropping in” often, but if a neighbour calls round he doesn’t bother getting his trousers on.
she finds it repulsive.

lizzyBennet08 · 26/11/2025 13:27

My son changes into shorts but absolutely not their boxers. Incredibly rude imo even if just family.

bugalugs45 · 26/11/2025 13:30

Tracksuit/ pj bottoms in our house. Shorts in summer .
My sister in law often walks around in top and knickers though ( in her own house 🤣 )

Pollqueen · 26/11/2025 13:30

Nope. This is a new one for me. I do like to take my bra off when I get home though, so maybe these men get the same feeling of relief 🤔

CagneyNYPD1 · 26/11/2025 13:32

Not pants but my DH will wear shorts at home all year round.

Palourdes · 26/11/2025 13:33

Anyone wandering our house with no trousers on would perish with cold within a few minutes.

Ours too. Having said that, we’ve lived in a lot of places, including hot countries, and DH has never done it in 30 years. Nor does DS.

Crabwoman · 26/11/2025 13:41

No, not pants. However, my DH immediately puts shorts or tracksuit bottoms on as soon as he gets home. He'd never hang around the house in jeans.

Is it not the male equivalent of taking your bra off at the end of the day?

Nourishinghandcream · 26/11/2025 13:41

Never come across this.😲

If it is hot my OH may put a pair of shorts on but no, wandering around in underwear is not something he would ever to.
Me neither!😁

ginasevern · 26/11/2025 13:45

My scuzzbag next door neighbour does it. He answers the door in his pants and stands there chatting and even walks down the path to put rubbish in the bin. They aren't boxer shorts either. If you ever wanted to be turned off sex for life, this will do it.

GuyForksAndKnives · 26/11/2025 13:50

Christ this is one reason I dumped my ex. Seeing him snoring on the sofa in a shirt, green and white striped underpants and socks was terrible. And he wondered why I didn't fancy him.

MinnieMountain · 26/11/2025 13:53

Our 12yo DS does. He adds a dressing gown when it’s cold. Colleagues have sons of similar ages who do it. I’ve never known an adult male do it.

I’ve got pyjamas or comfy but battered dresses.

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 26/11/2025 14:00

Yeah my dad did. He wore work trousers which would carry dirt I guess, so he'd take them off before coming in to the living room. But he also used to take jeans off at the weekend too, once arriving at home. He'd sit around in those small briefs with a t-shirt or shirt on top. All through our childhood and teenage years. 😒

The rest of the men I've known just pop on a pair of jersey loose shorts.

didgeridid · 26/11/2025 14:08

It would more likely be me that does this. Obviously not now - itssm too flipping cold but come summer in as little as possible when at home 🤣

cinquanta · 26/11/2025 14:12

I don’t know any man or woman that does this.

IAmKerplunk · 26/11/2025 14:22

My dd (20) will not wear ‘outside’ clothes indoors. As soon as she is home from work her bra is off and short shorts (jogging bottom material) and T- shirt is on. Ds (11) will wander round in just boxer shorts but that’s it.

When you say pants what do you mean? Y front briefs? Baggy boxers with far too much gape? 🤮
