Hot drinks that actually taste nice (no caffeine)

It's cold, I'm cold, and my default is to mainline coffee. My eye has been twitching for a week from the sheer amount of caffeine, even with decaf coffee.

Need herbal/fruit tea recommendations, or something similar that actually taste nice.

My go-to was cherry and cinnamon until it was discontinued, Yorkshire bedtime tea is another favourite but I don't always fancy it, I did drink a lot of warm lemon water until my dentist told me off for it ruining my enamel.

Not a hot squash fan, and trying to avoid super sugary stuff like hot chocolate.

Wasn't chicory the basis of ersatz coffee?

I like blackcurrant tea, but I think if you go for fruity/herbal teas - they don't suit everyone. I know quite a few people don't like fruity ones.

Camomile tea tastes of hay to me, and that is not a great thing.

I do like a hot Bovril in the depths of winter.

Yep, of Camp Coffee fame! I find that the powdered ones taste better than the liquid versions but that is just me.

Fresh mint tea (i.e. mint leaves from garden or plant from supermarket) is soooooo much nicer than mint tea from a teabag.
We also enjoy camomile (Sainsbury's own or Tea Pigs) and Lidl have some cheap, cheerful and upf free fruity teas worth trying.

My hot drinks are :
Teapigs - Mint
Twinnings - Mint
Twinnings - Fennel

Thanks @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGeniuseven Holland & Barrett locally didn’t have it, although I did find Heath & Heather Oriental Chai & Liquorice. Again, it’s nice, but I’d prefer just liquorice! (Which I have just learned how to spell properly).

I also like hot milk with a teaspoon of vanilla essence. Add a bit of single cream & a tsp of barley malt extract for indulgent home made Horlicks. Works well with oat milk or cows’ milk.

Yogi Tea Throat Comfort tastes really nice and is soothing when you have a cold or sore throat. I buy it for colds but it's so nice sometimes I just have it when I fancy a nice hot drink.

I love hot water and lemon. I squeeze half the lemon in as juice and slice a bit off the no - juiced side - bloody lovely!

GreyBeeplus3 · 30/12/2025 18:20

Twinings used to do a lovely Peach teabags
But I'm not sure if they still do
Also, I like a pear and apple combination

MinnieCauldwell · 30/12/2025 18:25

At night I like hot soya and a blob of honey.

ChrimboLimbo · 30/12/2025 18:30

What, dentist says no to hot lemon? That has made me sad as I keep having this to be "good"

awrbc81 · 30/12/2025 18:33

Horlicks or ovaltine are nice
Also like a peppermint or chamomile tea sometimes

powershowerforanhour · 14/04/2026 04:13

Peppermint, camomile or redbush are the only herbal teas I really like.

43percentburnt · 14/04/2026 04:58

Grated ginger in hot water. Or just a lump - keep topping up all day with boiling water.

Camomile tea.

Yerba mate - it’s slightly bitter and it is caffeinated but I drink it first thing each day. It’s meant to be good for you.

Dandilion tea.

Rooibos

I can’t bear Red bush. I would go for fresh mint - lots of it.

also have you tried Mother Root? That’s quite nice as a hot drink
