Just that really. When do you put your tree up? Also do you make it a family tradition and let children help or do it alone so it’s perfect lol

Usually 1st Dec but I did it a week earlier last year. Other decorations start making an appearance any time after around 20th Nov. I love the lights and colours and the cosyness of it and I have been know to keep the tree up until candlemass. It's the 2nd Feb next year.
I also love when you start to see all the outdoor lights and tree lights through windows on the drive home, fairly cheers up the dark nights.

Ours is going up on the weekend of the 5th . I’ve got stocktake the weekend before then a works do on the 5th so it seems like a nice thing do do while I have a hangover lol 😂

morellamalessdrama · 31/10/2025 20:02

Usually mid December as we get a real tree and it looks shit if we get it any earlier.

morellamalessdrama · 31/10/2025 20:04

Always up for the 12 days though. I hate it when people take theirs down on Boxing Day as to me, that is the Christmas period and they’re pissing on my Christmas chips. Grin

Last year it was 24th November as that’s when we had step DD. I’m tempted to go abit earlier this year I LOVE the decor

Flixon · 31/10/2025 21:00

Usually second weekend in Dec, and down NYD …

FridayNighFeeling · 31/10/2025 21:07

Mid-late December and down as soon as the rest of the family will let me

We usually do the first weekend of December too, but we might go slightly earlier this year and put it up on Sunday 30th November. It’s a fake tree, ultra narrow so it can fit neatly into a corner of our tiny living room, so I don’t get tree fatigue and want it down earlier if it goes up earlier. I love it and miss it when it’s gone!

We watch The Muppets Christmas Carol whilst decorating, and there’s always Christmas treats out for snacking on. We always start off doing it as a family but it always ends up with me finishing it off while the rest of them sit round eating the treats and critiquing it!

Muppets Christmas Carol is the ultimate tree decorating film!

Blappengrap · 31/10/2025 21:23

The week before Christmas usually.

MrsTrellisOgleddCymru · 31/10/2025 21:32

13th Dec, as it’s my DDs birthday.

WilfredsPies · 31/10/2025 21:32

If we’re having the big tree, then DSiL will come over around the first weekend in December, clamber about in the loft for me, help me assemble it (it really is massive) and then I’ll either put some Christmas music on or something like a Christmas cookery programme and decorate while DH watches from the sofa and tells me where the lights need adjusting. I have garlands going down the stairs and attach different things to them, like different coloured bows and pine cones etc. It’s such an effort to put it all up and decorate that I like it done quite early to get the benefit from it.

If it’s the smaller tree, (which it has been for a couple of years) then probably around the 10th. Same thing; something Christmassy goes on while I decorate and DH supervises from the sofa.

Coffeebreakneeds · 31/10/2025 21:35

We would normally do the first weekend in December so this year would be the 7th. However we are abroad this year and fly on the 6th so no decs for us which makes me sad as I bought some lovely new ones last year!! I think I am going to miss a UK Christmas! We are in Oz and fly back at new year so very different but the DC are older and it works for them (visiting one on a gap year as requested) x

aintnospringchicken · 31/10/2025 21:40

We’ve just ordered our Christmas tree through the same charity we’ve used for the last few years.
We collect it on the 6th December so will probably put it up on the 7th after it’s been standing in a bucket of water overnight.

JillyJoy · 31/10/2025 22:14

Last Sunday November, It is a white plastic one.
Have just realised that not many people will see it this year. But we will go ahead as usual.

WhiteCold · 31/10/2025 22:18

Looking at the calendar I reckon it'll probably be Saturday/Sunday 13th/14th December. Don't ;ule to put it up too early or else I get fed up with it. That weekend it'll have a good two weeks up.

gotohellforheavenssake · 31/10/2025 22:44

I’m usually a mid November decorator, but this year I will start next weekend. It takes several days to fully decorate and I want the house to feel festive before we visit Santa on 15th Nov! DD8 helps (with instructions lol), as does DH (reluctantly) and we play Xmas music or films whilst working.

gotohellforheavenssake · 31/10/2025 22:47

And for the record - no I don’t ever get bored of it, it never looks dusty or old (trees aren’t real), and it doesn’t come down until after NYE, but usually before start of term - because again, it takes a while!

endocolonoscopy · 31/10/2025 23:15

Not before 19th dec as that was my nanas birthday and it wasn’t allowed earlier 😂 we do put up outside lights / wreath and set out some Christmas pieces around the 12th

Lurkingforalaugh · 31/10/2025 23:25

Second weekend in December, the kids always has their own tree to decorate, displayed in a corner, out of my line of sight as it gave me palpitations to see the unevenness of it 😂, even now they are both mid to late 20’s and when they visit my house over Christmas they still see who can get away with ‘who can move a bauble without me noticing for the longest 😂😂😂😂’

strawgoh · 31/10/2025 23:45

First Saturday in December usually, although probably not this year as a family member is performing in a show, so we'll be at that instead.

justjuggling · 31/10/2025 23:48

2nd Saturday of December. My DDs still enjoy decorating it and switching on the lights!

Fontet · 01/11/2025 00:22

Mine will be up this week. Need some bling and sparkle...x

Mikart · 01/11/2025 07:56

Used to be around 15th.
Dont put one up any more

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 01/11/2025 20:05

1st December and let the DC help when they were still at home, although DS 18 also had his own small tree in his room from when he was 14
