Just that really. When do you put your tree up? Also do you make it a family tradition and let children help or do it alone so it’s perfect lol

Always used to wait for the kids to break up for Christmas before putting the tree up. Now they're all grown up but I keep to the 'mid December' thing, mostly because I always have a large real tree but now live in a small house and I get tired of walking around the damn thing if I put it up any earlier.

Second or sometimes third weekend of December, 1st always feels too early. This year probably the 13/14th. It is always left up until after new year, tend to take it down sometime between 1st Jan and whenever we’re all back in work/school.
Yes it’s so tempting to do it myself and when DC were little I used to tell them what to put on it and tidy it up when they’d gone to bed but last year (which was quite a hard one) I found I really didn’t care what they put on the tree because it didn’t matter- so let them do everything their way. It was a lot more colourful than what I would have done!

It's chat. There's a dedicated Christmas board for people to talk about Christmas. But however we are still in October..
Did you post it on here for more response?

I’m sorry, are you the thread police? What most adults do when they see a post they’re not interested in is they don’t interact with it. Do you find that difficult?

Are we allowed to “chat” about summer holidays on here? Cos that won’t be for 6 months or more yet? Do you have specific topics that are allowed in the “chat” section? Last time I looked, people chat about all sorts of random things. And you don’t have to click on a thread that is obviously not to your taste 🙄😆

Mid December. We always have one set of friends round for lunch one or two weekends before Christmas, so I do it the day before they come.

This year they are coming on the 14th so I shall decorate the tree on the 13th. Some of the other decorations come out a little earlier and of course the advent ones come out on 1 December.

CocoRats · 31/10/2025 14:07

20th December. I love Christmas but I find that the earlier it starts the less magical it feels once it gets to Christmas.

No dc this year but Dh and I love a big fat tree and go all garish and ott on the decorations. No beige ribbons for us.

dreamum · 31/10/2025 14:09

Always up by the 1st December, so if 1st December falls on a Saturday or Sunday then it’s up then, if not the weekend before the 1st.

frozendaisy · 31/10/2025 14:10

After we have all been out, chosen one, sometimes cut it down, let it sit in water for 24 hours, bit of sawing and positioning. Rescuing resident ladybirds if need be
it’s a process here!
Decorated over a couple of days
between 15-20th December
it’s the start of the household feeling truly Christmassy

Waitingfordoggo · 31/10/2025 14:33

19th December as it’s my Mum’s birthday and when I was growing up, she liked to put the tree up on her birthday. When I married and moved in with DH, we put ours up a bit earlier than that, but not by much. Mum’s no longer with us and now I like to put ours up on the 19th to mark her birthday. DH and the kids are happy to wait till then.

First week of December after my birthday ( end of Nov). But it takes me about 3 days.. its an artificial tree but looks real.
Every year l add a new bauble or two.. it's a white/ gold/ silver bronze theme. My fairy on top is one my 32 year old daughter bought when she was 3 when our first poundland opened.. although I've " tarted" her up a bit).
I have a garland and light up houses for my fireplace. ..and some "Manger" white ornaments l put out... Mary and Jesus and Joseph etc.
But come day after boxing day .. im ready to take it down and get the cleaner in lol.

Always was second week in December, until 2020 when everyone started to put them up in November. Now it's usually first weekend in December.

I let DC help decorate it but might rearrange after they've gone to bed!

weegiemum · 31/10/2025 15:08

Middle of December, real tree so we buy it earlier and keep it in the garden to stay fresh until we put it up (lots of rain in Glasgow!), down just after new year, about the 3rd Jan. but we have our advent wreath out from the first Sunday in advent which I think is 30th November this year!

Crunchymum · 31/10/2025 15:09

Mid December weekend.

Comes down anytime from 2nd January onwards.

Bluesclues1 · 31/10/2025 15:12

We are having an early Christmas gathering at our house the first weekend so will aim for before then. Then it will be down by the 29th as we go on holiday and I don’t want to have to deal putting it all away mid-Jan, with holiday blues.
Growing up it was always mid-December so we could celebrate my sisters birthday separately in early December.
Any earlier than December is naff!

reluctantbrit · 31/10/2025 15:30

Around the 22/23rd December, playing Christmas music and arguing about where a very kitsch US Santa has to go.

The tree will have some chocolates as well and we will also eat some.

Tree stays until 6th January.

We decorate with an Advent wreath, candles and ornaments on the Saturday before 1st Advent.

IsThisLifeNow · 31/10/2025 15:37

We usually have the fire on too, and burn last years Christmas tree. Sounds pretty barbaric when I think about it, but i always know the wood will be dry enough by then!

thankgoditssaturday · 31/10/2025 16:57

Around the 14th is year when youngest dd back from university

stargirl1701 · 31/10/2025 16:58

Christmas Eve.

Philandbill · 31/10/2025 17:00

The Saturday before Christmas Day. Unless that is Christmas Eve, in which case a week before that.

shellyleppard · 31/10/2025 17:00

Always last weekend of November/first weekend of December. Always do the tree together with my sons m this year the eldest one wants to cover the ceiling in garlands.... I'm just going to watch as the ceiling is rock hard and near impossible to get drawing pins in 😂😂😂

ChipDaleRescueRangers · 31/10/2025 17:03

Last weekend in November as it has to be up for eldests birthday. They demand it is up for their birthday every year.

Tryingatleast · 31/10/2025 17:05

Start of December and everyone helps. I never touch it after because everyone is proud of their placements etc!!

Ariana12 · 31/10/2025 17:08

We used to be hard core : Christmas Eve for the Christmas period to 12th night. Now we've gone soft: we put it up for Advent Sunday so it's up for the whole of Advent and Christmas. 😀

mondaytosunday · 31/10/2025 17:09

First weekend in December. As this year it’s the 1st on a Monday my son and I will go buy it then as he’s got the day off, then I’ll spend the next few days decorating.

Gatekeeper · 31/10/2025 17:10

About a week before. I would get heartedly sick of it if it was up in November/1st Dec
