Inspired by another thread. As per the title - what are your favourite items? Mine are:

Home Bargains:
Sausage rolls from the bakery section.
Rubicon (much cheaper than supermarket)
Bird food - seed and mealworms
Toothpaste
Wickford Candles

B&M:
Coffee sachets
Noodles for DD
Washing pods
Dishwasher tablets
Emulsion (rare but like Johnstones from there)
Any decorating supplies like paint brushes

I realise this is a sad thread. It’s better than what’s on our TV tonight though.

Home Bargains:

Rump steak
Jars of minced garlic
Jars of Italian mixed herbs
Seabrooks crisps
Soothers
Gaviscon
Cheap reading glasses
Gluten free mini brownies
Colliers Cheddar

@Zanzara the rump steak sounds interesting - I have never thought to buy meat from there.

I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s contributions and will be keeping an eye out for some of the recommendations 😃

Not a sad thread at all op! Love it!

I’m doing xmas stockings for my kids for the first time this year so I think these shops will be a good shout for stuff to put in them. Xmas stuff in general, got my xmas wrapping paper there last year.

@QueSeraSeraaaaa it's Irish, we sort through for a nice fat piece, then cook it in strips in butter and rosemary. Scrumptious! They also have sirloin.

Mydadsbirthday · 01/11/2025 11:50

I get hay fever stuff from there but the absolute best thing ever from HB is their pre planted pots and hanging baskets in the summer.

I've bought loads of them and they are great value and the plants and flowers seem to last forever! A couple I bought in June still going strong now!

Coffeeishot · 01/11/2025 11:58

I buy antihistamines from HB they are "pennies" compared to branded, i have random allergies insect bites and some times i get hives in the heat so buy them for holiday .

pushthebuttonnn · 02/11/2025 06:35

Sorry to derail- but has anyone come across the beautiful rocking horses (Christmas ornaments) still available in any of the HB stores? They are sold out online.

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit bakery items, bagged up. Not sure where they come from if I’m honest…

It’s interesting to see what others like. I’m definitely branching out to the chocolate twists next time. I’m also interested to try the tinted moisturiser.

The sausage rolls are mega. Nicer than Greggs if you ask me.

ours say they’re baked in store and I have picked them up warmish before. There is an in store cafe so I believe it.

Pricelessadvice · 02/11/2025 06:50

Home Bargains cheese and onion sandwich is absolutely gorgeous. Far nicer than the Tesco etc version,

christmasideers · 02/11/2025 07:01

Home bargains: barkeepers friend, asevi laundry detergent and floor cleaner, fudges florentines and cinnamon pretzels

b&m: not much I go there specifically for but my children like the papita bars and it’s good for stocking fillers.

Ive never been to a HB with a proper bakery, missing out!

Me neither - wasn’t aware it was a thing. Off to search where there is one near to me!

Daschund1 · 02/11/2025 08:08

Never been in a HB, but went to B&M today specifically to get Cookies and Cream Kitkats. I don't like any other flavour and they taste completely different to the white ones.
Sainsbury's didn't have any in stock. They're the only two places within forty miles that sell them.

dailyconniptions · 02/11/2025 08:16

HB is my favourite. I dislike B&M. I get:
woodshavings for guinea pigs, 49p body puff to use in shower, 3 pk toffee crisp, cotton wool pads, cotton buds, Farleys rusks, Buffalo kitchen roll.

JacknDiane · 02/11/2025 08:45

I try my best to keep away from hone bargains and B&M....i can't go in there and leave without a bag full.
