£200 to spend on yourself, what do you buy?

Ive neglected myself for years for the good of the family but now I’ve got £200 aside just for me. What would you buy? I have clothes but nothing I love and it’s all cheap primark bits, I don’t need shoes….

what would you buy? I want to spend it now before it gets reallocated to something!

A really good cut and colour.

New walking boots or Robert plant tickets

Bedding! Really good bedding.

A good coat or boots.

I’d book myself a spa day or a couple of self care treatments like a massage or hot stone therapy. It’s worth every penny to have your scalp and neck massaged for 50 minutes.

New bras, a fancy analogue watch or a le creuset pot. Something that’s going to make me feel fancy and spoiled when I use it.

Good quality sensible boots that you'll have for years. Then something indulgent like a beautiful scarf that you don't need.

@Sorrentino I was in this position recently and bought 3 le creuset pieces, I wanted something I would have for a long time. I felt very fancy indeed.

My Robert Plant ticket (including CD) was only £35 for Sunday at Circuit so she can buy the boots too :)

Like @Mumtobabyhavoc, a good cut and colour and maybe a facial if you can squeeze that in as well.

A beautiful piece of jewellery to last forever & give me joy whenever I looked at it (probably a ring).

I'd go for nice high quality bedding.

You'll still be enjoying sleeping in it long after a haircut has grown out or a clothing item gone out of fashion.

Right now I'd hold off and wait until I had enough to cover a skylight calendar.

Extremely overpriced and nonessential. Doesn't stop me wanting it haha!

Well you could treat yourself to a Beauty Advent Calendar?
£200 or even part of it would get you a nice one ., money left over for something else .

Upgraded my wardrobe door handles with expensive ones.

I got myself measured for new bras a couple of years ago. I still had my usual clothes but felt sooo much better. I kept one on from the changing room and strode out with my head high and back straight. So many people commented on how well I was looking. I wasn’t massively off with the size I wore but trying different styles with the shop lady advising made a small change that felt massive. I think it was also just because my old bras were worn out.
It has genuinely made me feel more confident and better every day since ☺️

Bras are definitely a good idea and if you can afford it, getting advice and having them fitted is well worth it.

But please don't neglect yourself going forward. If your household has spare money, some of it should be available for you to spend on you so you never feel like you must 'panic spend' it lest you lose it.

If you have a partner you should have equal personal money, ideally paid into separate accounts so you can see the money that's yours and separate from family money.

A lovely cashmere jumper

A beauty box is a really good idea as often they seem good value for money. I am going to buy a Boots' one probably and share it with my DD. It's the £70 one. Then I would have a regular pamper evening with Epsom salts, lovely body lotion etc...I would use the other £120 to buy a few carefully selected pieces from Vinted- only to for BNWT or BNWOT/ very good condition. You should be able to get four or five items for that maybe. It depends I give lovely Maxmara Weekend coat last year for £80 so you can buy fewer pieces but more quality Up to you.

Things I've spent money on to treat myself in the past are:

A new duvet set from The Fine Bedding Company. I think it cost me about £80 but I absolutely adore it.

A pair of stud earrings from Astley Clarke. Approximately £60 so would leave plenty left but I still wear them most days.

Getting a facial. Approx £50.

I think a beauty box is a good idea. Martin Lewis has a page on his website at the moment pricing up the contents and they all seem pretty decent savings compared to buying individually.

Oh! This is my fave answer.

I'd put £200 towards a Hive heating thermostat (other thermostats are available!). I have to go downstairs to switch my thermostat on, half an hour before I want to get up and shower. I'd love to be able to programme my heating or just click it on from bed!

I did this! I spent £100 on shein bits for myself that I really liked, and the other I got my hair done and nails. Then I've dedicated £20 every other/every 3 weeks to myself to have my nails redone because why not. I don't drink, smoke, go out so something for me feels quite nice 🩷🩷🩷
