£200 to spend on yourself, what do you buy?

Ive neglected myself for years for the good of the family but now I’ve got £200 aside just for me. What would you buy? I have clothes but nothing I love and it’s all cheap primark bits, I don’t need shoes….

what would you buy? I want to spend it now before it gets reallocated to something!

Nice food. Not the usual supermarket run. Go to a Japanese supermarket and fill up on sushi, noodles and so forth. Treats just for me.

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 03/10/2025 14:18

it depends what you have and what you need if £200 is really just for treats it's one answer but if it's £200 for clothes and there won't be more for a while then being sensible is the way to go,
I would second 2-3 decent bras if you don't already have them, then a warm waterproof coat , if you have these maybe go to M&S and get some cords for the winter and a nice jumper that is both warm and stylish £200 doesn't go far but if you need the max for the budget then you need to scour sales, Mountain warehouse has decent coats that don't break the bank

Buy yourself something you’ve really wanted but didn’t think you’d ever have.

The question though was what would you buy? So right now I’d buy a dashcam for my car.

I’ve got my eye on a new blowtorch. Or a green lion saw. I’m a sad sad woman…😉

Summerhillsquare · 03/10/2025 14:45

Some hold jewellery from Muse of My Own, which I saw recommended on mumsnet.

JillMW · 03/10/2025 14:46

A coat

SeaAndStars · 03/10/2025 14:47

Plants and compost.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 03/10/2025 14:54

Botox - although I don't think £200 will be enough

Notinmylifethyme · 03/10/2025 15:18

A lovely Greenhouse.

applesblowinginthewind · 03/10/2025 15:22

A heated throw and some new boots.

I always say that a girl can never have too many good handbags.

blazer
painting
chair
rug
silk shirt

EscapadeVelocity · 03/10/2025 15:37

Depends on what would make the most difference to you?

If you only have Primark clothes then a slightly more luxurious coat would serve a purpose. How about something like this:

Cos jacket

It’s all your money but you’d feel well dressed every time you left the house in it, and it should last for years.

Alternatively, although you said you have shoes - some very good warm leather boots.

A cashmere scarf, new pjs and some books

LamonicBibber1 · 03/10/2025 15:47

Ooh I love this thread!
Huge long cashmere scarf.
Bidet (they are more than twice your budget but I REALLY want one lol).
Barefoot boots, preferably in leopard print.
Japanese snacks box.
100% cotton velvet bedding (I did just get some velvet bedding and it is divine for autumn/winter, must be 100% cotton though, polyester is awful).
Kindle paperwhite.
Sunrise lamp.
Very expensive real chocolates in a box (none of that hotel Chocolat shite).
Proper incense sticks from Japan.
Expensive reed diffuser.
I do like hand thrown ceramics.
A massage.
Wool anything (rug, coat, hat, wrist warmers, soft blanket).
Meta glasses.

Sorry if my formatting is off,the site is being weird for me

ikeepforgetting · 03/10/2025 16:13

Uniqlo cashmere jumper
Manicure in a lovely autumn shade
Bath salts
New book
Bioessence face masks
Small Diptyque candle

FriedFalafels · 03/10/2025 16:15

Most recently, a night away with a spa treatment

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 03/10/2025 16:15

Botox

strictlynopolitics · 03/10/2025 16:15

Wool duvet from the Woolroom - a nice light one!

OR
A night away in a nice hotel somewhere by myself.

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 03/10/2025 16:20

From the other answers above I liked these ideas best :- luxurious dressing gown, hair cut and colour, cashmere jumper. They would all feel really special to me.

i have another idea, instead of a good quality sensible coats or boots I would get something that feels really 'special' and 'for best' and isn't like something you would normally buy - for example I saw a lady wearing a stunning bright pink wool coat which I would love but wouldn't get much wear out of, but would feel utterly fabulous every time I wore it. So a statement coat is my idea.

Meadowfinch · 03/10/2025 16:21

This time of year, a lovely wool sweater or a good quality pair of boots.

Catpiece · 03/10/2025 16:23

A Superdry jacket and some new huggie earrings

TotallyUnapologeticOmnivore · 03/10/2025 16:29

A classic wool coat

An overnight stay in Stratford on Avon, with tickets for the RSC

Onlycoffee · 03/10/2025 16:39

A beauty box from next or m&s

Sephora to replace certain items of makeup where I know I have the superdrug dupes

Elizabeth Scarlett pouch and makeup bag

Very good jeans that fit me perfectly and feel amazing

I like the idea from whoever said a few decent cookware or kitchen products (if you like cooking) that will last a long time

EscapadeVelocity · 03/10/2025 16:59

Just noticed this isn’t Style and Beauty! It does sound as if clothes might be a boost, @Sshhewolf - but if not, I’d agree a wool duvet (but winter weight!) might make anyone very happy indeed.
