don't like anything too cheesy if it's fiction

It was my first Janice Hallett and it put me right off. What of her others is worth it?

North Woods by Daniel Mason. Beautifully written.

I've just bought this book because it looked very enjoyable but I have not read it yet. It's good to see your recommendation.
