I wore my dressing gown this morning and made my first batch of vegetable soup. It was delicious.
What does Autumn mean for you?

Candles are lit at about 7.30pm now.
Heavy duvet needs to go on after the next bedding wash!
Thinking about putting away DD summer clothes and pjs. I've ordered winter coats too.
Roast dinners in this house have begun again! 😊

GameOfJones · 15/09/2025 14:32

I lit the candles in the evening for the first time in months last night and I've bought the ingredients to make a roast dinner this weekend.

The blankets aren't on the beds yet though and the heating is still off.

westcott · 15/09/2025 15:01

Socks.

Put the duvet back on bed after having just the cover for months

I've had to start hoovering the window panes each morning (Very old house with single glazing 😒)

Oh God, me too. We are supposed to be getting Double Glazing fitted before the winter...

themonkeysnuts · 15/09/2025 15:22

i'm collecting conkers for school

Comedycook · 15/09/2025 15:23

Yabvu. It's not autumn. It's late summer. Checked the weather forecast and apparently it's going to be 23 degrees this Friday.

Endlesswandering · 15/09/2025 15:26

I’m drinking more tea and enjoying long hot showers and my fluffy pyjamas

Hatty65 · 15/09/2025 15:37

I bought Atora suet in Tesco this morning - ready to make dumplings in the slow cooker as soon as it gets a bit more Autumnal. (Although it's blowing a gale here today).

Myfridgeiscool · 15/09/2025 15:38

I’ve had to admit defeat and put jeans on rather than shorts: I’ve had shorts on for months.

MotherTuckinGenius · 15/09/2025 15:44

My slow cooker has replaced the ice making machine on the kitchen counter.

EstherGreenwood63 · 15/09/2025 15:47

Heating is on and electric blanket used last night....and...massive spiders lurking around.

Tyler4689 · 15/09/2025 15:51

We bought a house and moved in in June, and yesterday felt chilly so realised we needed to check the heating works…we did, and ended up leaving it on all evening!
Having longer, hotter showers. Wearing socks inside. The urge to get all my chunky knits out from the loft. And decorating the house for autumn… I love all my ceramic pumpkins and seasonal candles!

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 15/09/2025 15:57

Our wicked cat killed a massive spider last night and I feel so guilty because we generally just relocate them to garage or shed.

Aside from that, the fans have gone back into storage in the loft, the sheepskin house boots are back on, and our dog is regrowing her woolly undercoat after a massive summer moult.

VictoriaEra · 15/09/2025 16:00

I actually dug my woolly hat out for a walk to sainsbury's

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 15/09/2025 16:04

I turned a corner in M&S food bit yesterday and found myself staring at the Wall of Mince Pies.

HeartbrokenCatMum · 15/09/2025 16:04

Feeling cold in the house. I love it.. I can choose my own temperature instead of being hot from the inside out.
The garden is staying damp longer instead of drying quickly.

Sailawaysally · 15/09/2025 17:22

I wore my boots to work today.
Made a beef bourg for Sunday lunch.
Had the log burner on yesterday. The dog was happy.
Purchased a butternut squash at the weekend, with the intention of making soup.
Googled slow cooker recipes

Tretweet · 15/09/2025 17:32

I’ve got a cold 😂

mondaytosunday · 15/09/2025 17:36

We put the fire on the other night. The back door isn’t open all day. I’ve put away the bunting and the autumn decs are up!

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 15/09/2025 17:45

Switching from a cardigan to a jumper in the evenings.
I'm resisting candles until either the equinox or, preferably, into October. I love autumn, but winter is more than long enough, thank you!

TragicMuse · 15/09/2025 17:48

I have a hot water bottle on my mind…

Middlemarch123 · 15/09/2025 18:11

I’m obviously in the minority here, still got windows open. Only difference is not having fans on. Still warm, still wearing summer clothes. Drawing curtains earlier is the only difference. Norfolk here.

dontcomeatme · 15/09/2025 18:18

I get last years fluffy socks out and get excited at the prospect of new ones for Christmas 😍

Connectingconcrable · 15/09/2025 18:19

I have my heated throw on the sofa.
