Someone pointed out on Bluesky this morning that the NYT has run 79 articles about Charlie Kirk since his assassination.

They only have one teeny one about Trump's bleat pressuring Pam Bondi to manufacture criminal charges against his political opponents. Then there's Tom Homan and his bag of cash and, of course, the random killing of people in boats.

How can they be expected to keep up having apparently deployed most of their staff to the Kirk mourning beat?

Fans of numerology would be interested to know that "Charlie Kirk" and "Horst Wessel" are equivalent.

What do we make of Laura Loomer’s tweet about imminent multi-city Islamic terrorist attacks across the US? Normally I wouldn’t pay her any notice as she’s entirely bat shit (and a racist) but it’s safe to say she’s quite well plugged in to the administration these days.

Remember how with all the many warning signs, Bush’s administration couldn’t communicate well enough between different departments to anticipate 9/11, even though they had the facts? Do you think this lot are joined up enough to know what they are talking about, or are deliberately fear-mongering?

I did wonder if it was a case of rampant Islamophobia to be honest.

Must say, @Igotjelly, I really hope I’m right that they don’t know what they’re talking about on this, but the Friend of Epstein and his minions have so often proved me wrong that in a way, I wouldn’t be surprised. But no, on balance, I’m afraid it is, as you say, rampant Islamophopia.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's also in order to plants the seeds to justify closing mosques and other non-Christian religious gathering places.

The US could not do a better job of destroying itself than all the jihadis of all time x10 could do.

It's easy to imagine ISIS/DASH/Al Queda actively bumping off their own nutters to stop them trying to attack the US while it's making mistakes.

The right wing Christian nutjobs are trying to restore Israel as it's apparently foretold in the bible as a prerequisite to the second coming of Christ. They are literally trying to trigger the end of the world.

Yeah, I don't actually want to see the US as my enemy.

I get pissed off at the cultural hegemony and all that, and am not a fan of the US's view of itself as exceptional, etc, or some of its military interventions (aka bombing).

But I would actually like it to be functioning country offering a good and just life to its residents, and sometimes helping other countries do the same.

The USA eating itself is Putin's wetdream.
