I don't think that applies to people upset about the Epstein stuff (for example). If anything it's people on the very far right and the very far left who are willing to turn a blind eye/excuse that sort of thing when they need to. Most "normal" people are disgusted even if they don't agree on anything else.

I think it refers to the people who turn up to every whiff of a march with the unite placards and would never a kiss a Tory types .

When people are genuinly moved to march it really packs and punch but unfortunatly the rent a crowd takes the power away.

Yeah know what you mean, the far right crowd in London on Saturday definitely had a whiff of that. It was clear that huge amounts of money had been thrown at it (Musk?) and looked like many of them had been bussed in for the day from the provinces 😆

It feels like everything's gotten exponentially worse over the last twelve hours.

In addition to genuine suppression of free speech - who knew the first amendment only applied to one political side - and government manipulation of private industry, it's psychologically damaging. Being able to pull up Kimmel and Colbert's monologues, to see people turning the horrors of all this into the sublimely ridiculous, has been a sanity saver in our house. Which, of course, is one of the reasons for this.

We are probably at the stage that those riding the dragon realise they can't get off. As ever, not only will history record what happens - it provides clues as to what will happen.

Yes, you'd think a sufficient point of overreach had already been achieved but apparently not. I guess his MAGA, armed to the teeth, supporters are still so numerous, and worshipful, that it's too dangerous to act against him and the more sane have to wait until they turn on him. Unless he's discovered personally biting the heads off kittens, it could be a while. What a state we are in, it's abysmal.

I think MAGA can be persuaded to "disarm the dems" as the slogan is undoubtedly going to be. Backed by that old ally the idea that "rights" are not for some people. And the Constitution will show that, when SCOTUS get around to it.
