An India and China that are largely totally self sufficient in energy - using thorium nuclear for very cheap electricity, and taking advantage of a buyers market in oil for the rest isn't science fiction.
Of course with depressing predictability, the UK was a world leader in thorium research (hence Indias familiarity with it) until the US intervened and made sure we kept to "the script".
You could have had an entire fleet of thorium reactors providing 24/7 electricity for free if we'd avoided the solar and wind scamsters that infected the market very early on.
