So I have been using shower gel to wash myself with for years and it has only recently come to mY attention to voice this issue and to find out if others too are having this problem....

Every time I use shower gel , which fyi is daily, I drop a substantial amount of It on the shower floor! EVERY TIME PPL!

Is this the same for you too? Is there a good strategy to avoid this wastage and annoyance??? Plz share!

On the rare occasion I have used shower gel this happens - I use a shampoo bar or soap.

SoftandQuiet · 04/08/2025 12:07

What do you wash with, cloth, sponge, hand?

Use a sponge.

lovenotwar149 · 04/08/2025 12:08

I have sensitive skin , soap irritates it

I use a pump bottle, it does reduce the shower floor waste.

That's it then, it'll just slip straight off a hand. Maybe try a flannel or sponge?
Soap might be better but you'll probably just drop that.

Didnt see myself as a flannel washer - but maybe its time to make that change!

Yes, a bar of shampoo, a bar of soap and a facecloth. I’ve never seen the point of shower gel.

TianasFlight · 04/08/2025 12:13

I use one of those fluffy puff things and squeeze gel directly onto it then froth it up.

Never had a problem with any going on the floor.

Those fluffy puff things - yh I can do that , prefer that over a flannel tbh

SoftandQuiet · 04/08/2025 12:15

Lol sorry, didn't mean to sound rude. Yes fluffy puff things are the best! (Though not for the environment).

It was a funny comment - I laughed!

On the rare occasion that I use shower gel, I use a puff or a washcloth - no wastage.
Most of the time I use soap, pure olive oil soap which is much gentler on my skin than detergent based shower gel.

Darragon · 04/08/2025 12:15

It only spills if you pour too much out at the same time. Try pouring out a bit, using it, then pouring out a bit more when you need it.

I use a puffy thing (why are they bad for the environment? Mine's about 100 years old. That's probably not ideal...)

Otherwise it must just slide off your hand onto the floor..?!

There are plenty of soaps for sensitive skin around. Also soap bars are cheaper and better for the environment.
