Meanwhile - 90 years too late, it seems this "genius" has been reading his litttle ladybird book of WW2 and found the bit where the Tories suggested staying out of the war to hang on to the empire (which the US would have taken off us anyway. I imagine he's not got to that bit yet).

I notice this interesting human being has waited until all the poor sods who fought in the war are now gone before telling the world they wasted their time. I wonder if he remembers they had families ?

There aren't quite as many of these young Reform males in the wild as might appear - but I have taught a few. Odious, nasty, vicious, misogynistic bullies to a fault.

Observer: it will launch in September this year, with a budget of around £2.5m and ambitions to raise £25m to spend 'on policy formation, identifying candidates and hiring advisers and spokespeople for Reform or a possible merged Reform-Tory party'

Vance's 'holiday' and foreign influence

Thomas Skinner worries me. He has many other of the same qualities as Johnson. He’s superficially likeable and relatable, gives off everyone’s best mate vibes. And he’s going to get a lot of exposure on Strictly, especially if he’s the joke candidate and wins the popularity vote. One to watch - for all the wrong reasons.

I totally agree. The cheeky chappie character is a dangerous one. I hope the casting producers are all over his SM going forward.

Any money on anything questionable being deleted when he was cast?

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2025 12:04

I cannot believe he will be anything other than a terrible dancer of the not even disarmingly adorable variety so I suspect early doors exit.

Viewers of The Apprentice bloody loved him. I can’t imagine viewers of Strictly would be any different. Look how long they kept the charmless Widdecombe in for comedy value.

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2025 12:17

I'm avid Strictly fan. I don't think so. Widdecombe was so abjectly awful and was one of the early iterations. Viewers have tired a bit of that trope now. I don't think Skinner will have the wit or self effacement of Widdecombe, Sargent or some of the footballers, or he discipline for training. We'll see! Genuinely poor dancers do get ejected pretty early. Be interested to see who he dances with. That will make a difference.

placemats · 17/08/2025 12:28

Skinner loves controversy and I'm sure he'll oblige in Strictly.

Plus I'm sure people will mix him up with Dean Franklin. (Not that I've done that oh no 😄)

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2025 12:38

Also... sorry for Strictly chat ! But Harry AA will be by far the better cheeky chappy character and La Voix will have a big vote base as will the YouTuber. I bet Vicky Pattison will be determinedly good. And the girl who is the model with Down Syndrome (Ellie?) will be a good journey watch. All of these will be decent dancers, I suspect. Skinner is toast.

Starmer to join Zelenskyy and other European leaders at the White House meeting.

Apparently its now T & Z, followed by the european leaders..... worrying given T's latest tweet that the war is all on Z to stop.....

The EU/Europe has given twice as much aid to Ukraine than the states have, so much for a fake

Stick to selling sheep

DuncinToffee · 18/08/2025 08:30

Zelenskyy will have been wel prepared and trained by the other leaders

Yes of course but Trump may not be on board with any of that....

Its beyond logic that Trump puts the responsibility of ending the war on Zelynskyy, whilst rolling out the red carpet for Putin... i mean why? whats the hold on Trump??

DuncinToffee · 18/08/2025 08:48

What's the hold on Trump?

Indeed.

Desperate for attention. Philp will be kicking himself that he wasn’t there first.

DuncinToffee · 18/08/2025 08:54

Will Badenoch do anything?

Jenrick might want to look at what he did as immigration minister.

OP posts:
Evenstar · 18/08/2025 08:56

Jenrick is a despicable human being 🤮 even more galling now that the BBC apologised for the xenophobe remark.

PandoraSocks · 18/08/2025 09:00

Jenrick should defect to Lowe's party. He'd be very much at home there.

Vile man.

Isn’t it the case whilst Jenrick was Immigration minister the number of asylum seekers in hotels doubled?

He’s responsible for the increase of use of hotels.

They stopped processing applications.
Built up a vast backlog of cases.
And now campaigns about said backlog.

Sending the mythical 200 people to Rwanda wouldn’t have altered the backlog or the costs.

what a bloody hero.

The rules about speakers are not very freedom of speech-y.

They will no longer be able to organise sweeping sand off the beach parties.

@Notonthestairs a quote from Simon Hart’s book seems to suggest that there were definitely political decisions being made regarding asylum hotels
