What's for Dinner Tonight?

Dunno about anybody else, but life seems pretty heavy going at the moment, any which where you look!

So, in the spirit of something that's often nice to think about, innocuous and interesting (well, it is to me, anyways!), what's on your menu for tonight?

Ours is homemade hamburgers and sweet potato fries, since DH and the girls are going out to see Superman tonight.

I've had a late lunch of M&S calamari, anchovies and some roasted and salted soy beans do am far from hungry. Might just have some miso soup later.
I also have a curd tart in the fridge....

I saw something on Instagram this morming that had gravy on it and craved gravy instantly. I popped a slow cooked brisket with onions, carrots and gravy in the slow cooker about 5 hours ago and it smells lush. I'll eat at about 8pm by which time it will be falling apart tasty. I've got a ready made root veg mash to have with it and it will be liberally black-peppered then a good smear of mustard shall be dolloped on.

Seems like the perfect Saturday evening dinner since its been dull all day.

Just getting myself slowly ready to meet dc at a festival thing up the road. They went earlier but they are hardy and were happy to brave the rain! Me less so, it’s clearing up now so I’ll be a fair weather visitor 😂
will get something to eat there, loads of brilliant food vendors based on previous years.
Dh is feeling a bit under the weather so he’s staying home and said he’d get a sad takeaway for one!

A mixture of delicious mushrooms on bougie toast. I've been craving it all week and finally went to the farmer's market to get the ingredients.

Fish pie. Layers of fish and different green veg and herbs, topped with layers of potatoes and sweet potatoes that have been sliced, parboiled and buttered.

Easy-peasy and very tasty.

Spaghetti meatballs

I had spaghetti bolognese with toast earlier. It was a meal for one from Tesco Finest range it was nice.

Beef ragu tortellini , some sauce yet to be decided by DP.

Chicken burgers with chilli jam, chips and corn on the cob, with sauerkraut on the side.

Saturday is always lazy/minimal effort tea day here so we're having burgers , and certainly not home made ones. Beef for DH, veggie for me. In big wholemeal baps with a slice of plastic cheese. He has ketchup and I have a mixture of mayonnaise and burger relish.

Burgers in buns, smashed potato salad, grated carrot with toasted pumpkin seeds and orange dressing, tomatoes with basil and balsamic dressing, and green salad. All vegan.

Spaghetti with tomato, bacon, and leek sauce, with lettuce and watercress salad.

And some wine 🍷

Miso sea bass and steamed veg. Plus wine.

Thai style chicken noodle soup and tiger baguettes with chicken and salad.

I wish I could say I made the soup from scratch, but sadly, not.

Carrot salad, hassleback potatoes and cream cheese. Big glass of wine.

Salmon with wild rice and sugar snap peas, bean sprouts, edamame beans, pepper, broccoli, ginger, garlic, spring onions, miso, soy and some other bits and pieces

Homemade chilli with rice and tortilla chips 😋

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding and gravy! Naughty no veg!

Bit of a mish mash of leftovers, dh cooks (he's actually good at it, I'm rubbish) but we've been out all day so he is having roast chicken dinner with white wine gravy, I'm having pasta and meatballs with a homemade sauce and parmasan cheese and ds is having gluten free pasta with his as he's gluten intolerant.

HOmemade quiche and broccoli

DH and DS are out visiting an elderly rellie, I’m hoping they’ll come back via the Chinese takeaway… 😜

Fennel and cannellini bean gratin with a green salad and apple slaw. Not eaten yet but it smells Devine.

Fajitas . Might go out for an ice cream later !
