Which is the best filled pasta?

DiscoBob · 19/07/2025 18:39

I'm not mad on regular pasta like spaghetti, fusilli etc with sauce, but love filled pasta.

What's everyone's favourites, both shop bought, home made, or restaurant?

Mine at the moment I think is the Rana mushroom one. Or an Italian deli near me that sadly shut down did ones with mushroom, ricotta and truffle. Soo good!

I just had the Waitrose mushroom ones and they're alright.

I think It has to be nice enough to just have a bit of good olive oil, parmesan and fresh basil on it. If it needs heavy sauce it's wrong.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject x

They say it's safe to consume a prepackaged ravioli, for example, within 3- 4 days, if it's been pre-opened and been kept refrigerated in a tightly covered container.

Prawn, chili and mushroom sounds delish!
Bon appetit @DiscoBob !

Thank you. Yeah, I failed in that I didn't even wrap the packet, just left it open for five days. I so wanted to eat them though but glad I didn't. I probably be in A&E right now. 🙄

Yeah, I'm looking forward to trying the prawn ones. I used to never eat any pasta at all, now I'm obsessed with the filled ones. 😂

Yeah, you did right by not eating them after 5 days.
Good call on that one!
I hope you love the new pasta flavour experience, it does sound good!

Those co op,ones burst open on me too. I think they’re too thin probably. I tried the squash and sage one and the water was filled with the filling and most of the parcels were empty and they aren’t the cheapest either

Edited

Exactly this. I’ll stick to my value pasta with super-extra-cheesy sauce. 😀

I've not heard of those? Are they in supermarket or deli etc?

Usually deli/farm shop, but a year or so ago I did see a small range of La Tua in M&S - not sure if they’re still stocking them! They freeze well, if you do find them somewhere!

Thank you. I'm not near a farm shop but will try some delis. And need to check out marks, not looked at their food for ages! X

Thank you. Haha. Yeah, close call. I'm going to store them in Tupperware from now on and eat in three days. Or freeze them?

I want to eat the prawn ones now...not sure if there's a rule against cheese with fish? I want parmesan on it! X

Mmmm....
I would think parmesan cheese would go very well with your prawn ravioli.
There's nothing wrong with serving cheese with fish although some cultures, mainly Italian ,don't typically appreciate the pairing as much as other cultures might.
Mainly I think because cheese can overpower the delicate flavor of most fish.
Buon appetito!

That sounds devine! I've not seen that in Sainsbury's, Waitrose or Tesco. Lobster is my favourite thing ever! X

I get mine in a city centre sainsburys local, but my massive sainsbos doesn’t have it and neither does the local one near my house :(

fussychica · 05/08/2025 17:57

Del Ugo from Waitrose for me, especially the Crab and Crayfish ravioli or prawn and chilli. I serve with melted butter and oil, parmesan and ciabatta. Preferably with a nice glass of white wine.
Often on offer but not at the moment. Freezes well too.

Ooh this thread is for me! My DH and I often lament the loss of the Sainsbury’s walnut and Gorgonzola ravioli.

I don’t mind the Rana ones too and I like the pumpkin ones. But I think the Pasta Evangelist ones are quite high quality (although annoyingly you can only get them as a kit) on Ocado. We also buy La Tua Pasta in our local market - they sell it in a few places around London.

chocopuffs · 05/08/2025 18:24

For restaurants, if you’re in London, Padella and Lina Stores are both relatively accessible and decent. Obviously local Italian places do even better filled pasta.

Wonder if I invented this now as the one I see online is prawn rather than lobster . Still . Just tell yourself it’s lobster 😂

Haha. damn. I thought if it does have lobster it's bound to only be a very small amount. Or cost about thirty quid a pack! X

Thank you. I actually don't think I've eaten pasta in a restaurant! I guess because with Italian I tend to order some kind of meat. I think they're both not too far from me so I'll check them out! X

Absolutely amazing! They're so tasty but I didn't catch any chilli at all? Still my new favourite though. Can't believe I didn't think I'd like prawn pasta before? X

I love the Dell'Ugo range - Prawn and chilli, the also do a crab and crayfish one!

Quite pricey though!
