Which is the best filled pasta?

I'm not mad on regular pasta like spaghetti, fusilli etc with sauce, but love filled pasta.

What's everyone's favourites, both shop bought, home made, or restaurant?

Mine at the moment I think is the Rana mushroom one. Or an Italian deli near me that sadly shut down did ones with mushroom, ricotta and truffle. Soo good!

I just had the Waitrose mushroom ones and they're alright.

I think It has to be nice enough to just have a bit of good olive oil, parmesan and fresh basil on it. If it needs heavy sauce it's wrong.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject x

The Sainsbury’s chilli and prawn one is lush. I put a bit of Parmesan and chilli oil on it.

The Aldi Butternut Squash and Pine Nut Ravioli are excellent.

Edited

That’s my next one to buy but I’m hooked on the buffalo ricotta one. Thanks for the reccomend .

Can I just ask, do you split one punnet between two people?

CalzoneOnLegs · 31/07/2025 19:29

@SunnyPrague I do, one pack makes me two meals.

We do.

CalzoneOnLegs · 31/07/2025 19:50

@DiscoBob you could always cook a nice cheesey one and have some asparagus spears with it…..

I spilt it in two portions yeah. But if I was ravenous I could probably back all 12 of them! X

I find them a really annoying size - I want about 2/3 of them.

So I tend to 1.5 packs ish for me and DH, then the other half does two toddlers.

La Tua is very nice is you can get it where you are, and Emporio della Pasta. Both a bit expensive, but nice for a treat.

We had the co-op special Nduja & Burrata the other day and it was gorgeous!

So did I but I didn’t enjoy it at all. The parcels split and it was a right soggy mess.

frugalkitty · 31/07/2025 23:00

Sainsburys TTD butternut squash and sage is really nice. Even DS said how good it was (before we told him what it was!).

user593 · 31/07/2025 23:05

M&S cappelletti with parma ham, cheese sauce, sprinkled with bacon lardons, rocket and parmesan! I had something similar in Italy once and wanted to recreate it at home. This is close.

SunnyPrague · 01/08/2025 15:29

Thanks for the replies re splitting one pack between two - that’s what I do too.

Waitrose do one, not own label but I can’t remember the brand. Anyway it’s something like crab and lobster and it’s perfect to eat with just a bit of butter/oil and some green leaves. Black packaging I think 🤔

Lobster!! I adore the sound of that. My Waitrose is shut for a month so hopefully I'll get them when it reopens. X

Rana gnocchi is the best. Frying it is a revelation. 😋

How long do you cook them for? I only do 1.5 minutes. I find them quite soggy if you do three! X

I wish I liked gnocchi. I feel like I should as I love potatoes. I've only had them years ago so maybe should try again with the frying technique! X

I've not heard of those? Are they in supermarket or deli etc?

It said 4-5 minutes, they had 4. It wasn’t so much soggy pasta it was that they split and the contents leaked out.

Thank you. That's a shame. I think I'm already fucked as I just took out the other half of my mushroom ones and they're all stuck together. It's gonna be mush central even at 1.5 mins. 🙁

I do recommend the briefer cooking time though. X

Those co op,ones burst open on me too. I think they’re too thin probably. I tried the squash and sage one and the water was filled with the filling and most of the parcels were empty and they aren’t the cheapest either

DiscoBob · 03/08/2025 11:17

@PersephoneSmith @CalzoneOnLegs I ended up throwing the mushroom ones away. I got the fear as the pack had been open for five days. I read a story about someone getting food poisoning from them?!

How long would you leave them open before it's no longer safe to eat do you think?

I just ordered the Sainsbury's prawn and chilli and the mushroom Rana 😀 x
