Anybody want to find a holiday for me?

Would like to go last week of August for 4 nights/5 days - preferably Devon or Dorset. Definitely south anyway. 2 adults 2 kids. We are not fussed about the accommodation but would like to walk to a sandy beach and have parking. Budget is £1000. I have been looking for hours and it is definitely doable but now I am overwhelmed with choice and getting myself stressed. I don’t know any places down that way particular. Don’t want it Bournemouth busy. My dad has very kindly offered to treat me and my kids after a tough few years and now I am able to go away I am finding it all overwhelming! If anyone is bored and would like to look? Very cheeky of me I know and not exactly an exciting search!

Lyme is lovely but so so busy. Probably better staying there than day visit maybe. It was insane trying to park, trying to get in and out. Lovely town though.

Sorry....no help on the camping.😂🤦🏻 I'm just rambling.

Personally I'd book a lovely cottage and not give myself the absolute headache of buying equipment and finding a camp site etc. but that's me.

Or else go glamping and it's done for you.

I’d try to borrow stuff first, you don’t want to spend loads to find you hate it. I love camping but three days is my limit. There are tonnes of good camp sites but, sigh, the weather can ruin it if it’s shite. If you’ve been gifted 1k & have had a tough time as a family I’d play it safe this time but my kids love camping & you should deffo try it!

That is also beautiful! We really want to be able to walk to the beach though.
Any idea what Sidmouth is like?

Sidmouth is completely fantastic (I lived there for a year.) Pebbly beaches, with a tiny bit of sand at one end though.

Just a thought, if you want a bit more to do than Charmouth can offer (if you do go you can walk to Golden Cap too), Exmouth is a bigger and more lively option. Big sand beach. Lovely coast walks. They have the cycle path up to Exeter along the estuary up to Exeter Quay that would be perfect for the kids, with some fab pubs on the way for food/ drink stops (the scotch eggs at Double Locks are the best), passing through Topsham which has a cracking vibe. There is also a train line so you can go wherever you like.
Exeter Quay has canoes for hire too at Saddles and Paddles (www.sadpad.com)
Or take a trip to Dartmoor for some wide open space.
I love Lyme Regis, like really LOVE it, but it gets sooooooo busy I don’t tend to venture there in the summer at all.
