Whilst scrolling half asleep in the middle of the night, I saw a picture somewhere on FB which I didn’t quite understand. It was with reference to Trump, I assumed, and was of a nurse, and the caption read something like: “this is what every nurse looks like now, as they recognize all the signs of congenital heart failure.” Does anyone know if it refers to anything in particular or is just a kind of wishful thinking?

I'm guessing it's referring to the leg oedema as heart failure can cause it. Not the only cause though. Unless there's something else going on as well.

Thanks, @countrygirl99, I’d completely missed Trump’s “chronic venous insufficiency” being diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. So the picture I saw can’t be that recent.

Thinking about it, we only have Trump’s word for it that chronic venous insufficiency is what he was diagnosed with. And we all know how much that’s worth.

He certainly doesn’t look healthy and not just in a my legs are swollen because of CVI way.

I’ve seen reports too that in order to be presenting the way he is it has to be fairly advanced. So essentially he’s either talking bollocks now or the doctor who did his medical and declared him fighting fit was 🤨 or both….

I think about that joke often when it comes to Trump.

Chronic cerebral spinal venous insufficiency was briefly suggested as a possible condition that can be misdiagnosed as MS in the early noughties. Along with sticky blood syndrome.

Should Trump become suddenly incapacitated, it's interesting to speculate whether it then becomes a case of when, not if the whole rotten thing falls apart. Like most dictators, Trump has been careful not to enable anyone below him too much (see also: A. Hitler). So a sudden and very public vacuum at the top could precipitate a pleasing internecine phase for MAGA.

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom DH has heart issues, he has a long list of drugs he's on every day. He's always asked about oedema or "swollen ankles" at the GP or A&E. It's very much a sign of heart failure.

ETA My dad was always asked too, and he had renal (kidney) failure.

I don't have any medical training just A level Biology but hanging around with the number of cardiologist and nephrologists I have over the years, you do tend to pick up quite a bit.
