Republicans and support for Israel is incredibly complex, given their love for anti semitic conspiracy theories. Many prominent Jewish Americans are Democrats . Trump definitely won't enjoy this. MTG can dress this up as concern for Gaza but it won't be.

cardibach · 31/07/2025 09:40

SerendipityJane · 31/07/2025 09:33

What about the Democrats,

That is really like a US reader asking "What about the <insert any party with no power> ?" surely ?

Not at all. They are the alternative in the mid-terms. They are the equivalent of the opposition. It’s their job to call the governing powers to account, surely? Would be good to know what they thought and for them to apply some pressure if they disagree with unconditional support for Israel. Maybe they don’t. But they are very quiet.

placemats · 31/07/2025 10:13

The pro Israel lobby has a tremendous influence on US politics.

GBeebies at it again with lies, pushed by Reform, that "veterans are being evicted to make room for migrants" in Bolton.

Well quite. Davey brought this up in an interview, last month

"You cover the tittle tattle around Reform – you don’t look at their policies,” said the Lib Dem leader. “When I look at the broad BBC coverage, he gets such an easy ride, and he gets covered when he says horrible things that aren’t producing solutions for people’s problems"

Not the only group that the BBC give prominent coverage who are lazy and win very little. Their sports coverage gives far too much time and space to Manchester United. Leicester City have won the league more recently than them, and Spurs and Arbroath a trophy each more recently.

lol at the absolute melt tagging in Keir Starmer. I’m sure KS is avidly combing his FB feed to be shown the error of his ways by some random thicko.

PandoraSocks · 31/07/2025 14:59

Evenstar · 31/07/2025 14:45

Comments on this story on their Facebook page are only too predictable, two tier Keir etc 🙄 https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/childminder-jailed-vile-tweet-day-32171822

Well they can't claim two tier justice now, can they?

No doubt she will be interviewed by the likes of freebies.

I look forward to finding out which charity she donates the crowd funded money to.

Evenstar · 31/07/2025 15:03

@Saucery 🤣 yes I hope he’s not on holiday, it would ruin it for him

SerendipityJane · 31/07/2025 15:11

It should be a condition of parole that you refrain from making public statements.

(E2A "parole" instead of "bail")

Everyone will want to interview her. Make no mistake.

bombastix · 31/07/2025 15:17

She’s not going to be interviewed is she. She’s going to be released on licence, and it will be a condition of that licence that she doesn’t. If she does, she can face being recalled to prison.

Licence means they can pull you back and finish all of your sentences so she would have to be very stupid to do this

PandoraSocks · 31/07/2025 15:18

How long do we think it will be before someone starts a thread and all the Reformites start gushing over her?

You realise that this is the same legal system that granted Julien Assange bail ...

bombastix · 31/07/2025 15:22

If I were Lucy Connolly and I had be convicted of this offence I would shut up for the duration of my licence period and not allow the media to eff it up for me by asking me to make comments on the fairness of my conviction or otherwise

You know why prisoners aren’t constantly in the news doing interviews about how unfair it is they got convicted etc - it’s their licence conditions. She still has a lot of her sentence to serve yet this is a suspension with strict constraints

It’s not. One is the criminal court. The second is the probation service which is set and managed by the government directly. So basically Lucy Connolly isn’t free, the government have given her a licence to be out. If they decide she’s breached it, she goes back into prison. There is no court or judge to consider it

Let's see.

Meanwhile, prefacing her name with "convicted hate monger" should help balance the narrative.

bombastix · 31/07/2025 15:48

It’s not a question of let’s see! It’s ROTL, which applies to any prisoner released on licence

Either there will be a splash of interviews from/with her. Or there won't.

I'll admit that if there aren't the thickwits will lap up the "help, I'm being oppressed" line.

placemats · 31/07/2025 16:57

Lucy will have a tag. She'll be asked to be interviewed from her home because those who ask don't actually give a care about her. She'll have to be incredibly stupid to do the interview but she does have previous on stupidity. So who knows. Frankly, no one really cares.

It's hard to see how someone that stupid can do anything other than confirm the conviction is 100% safe if they choose to do an interview.

Mind you, she's a poster child candidate for Reform. Thick, racist and a criminal. Arguably overqualified if anything.
