Cleverly took the housing role because he thinks coming up against Rayner will raise his profile in advance of his next leadership bid. If he'd cared about housing I'm sure he could have achieved something in the 14 years he was in Government. I note this morning he's claiming the countries divisions are due to Labour shadow ministers (as was) taking the knee and nowt to do with his time in power.

Thanks for the Crace link @ilovesooty. John always nails it.

I think of slightly more interest are the actions of Essex police in Epping who seem to be cocking it up royally in terms of comms and actions. Operationally they need a very good plan. It looks like they have not got one

Irresponsible but not surprising -

Might have been nice if they had learnt from last year. Anyone would think they were encouraging trouble.

MaybeNotBob · 23/07/2025 17:21

#FarageRiots anyone?

Guess he got a taste for it

What an absolute twat he is. He knows he’s talking shit. He knows his ‘base’ will believe him. A disgrace to politics and the role of MP.

placemats · 23/07/2025 17:45

How are Farage's actions not considered a breach of Parliamentary Standards?

LittleBowSheep · 23/07/2025 17:54

Wales unfortunately gained its first Reform Senedd Member yesterday. In through the back door by defecting, but in none the less. That low-life snake-breath piece of scum Farage even had the audacity to announce it at the Royal Welsh Show. I can't even feel sorry for those who voted for her.

She seems a good fit. I can't disagree with Badenoch's reaction.

He really is a low life and she is a racist, going by the language she uses.

She wants to be Reform leader in Wales, apparently.

cardibach · 23/07/2025 18:05

I could feel sorry for those who voted for her. Shower that they are, the Tories aren’t (or weren’t at the last Senedd election) as terrible as Reform. It’s possible to be a Tory who dislikes what Reform are and what they are driving the Tories to be. Though I have little sympathy for anyone voting Tory in Wales at the best of times, given the Party’s attitude to being Welsh most of the time.

PandoraSocks · 23/07/2025 18:08

I think she is desperate to hold onto her seat and this is why she has defected.

placemats · 23/07/2025 18:11

Imagine on the anniversary of your child's death by such violent means, there's going to be more violence? It's appalling and disgusting. Shocking behaviour from an MP.

cardibach · 23/07/2025 18:11

Hope it backfires then… (to @PandoraSocks )

DuncinToffee · 23/07/2025 18:12

Not just racism she had to apologise for

In 2021, she was forced to apologise over old Facebook posts, in which she said she “would like to do a spot of Chav shooting", and added it is "a shame that isn't legal."

She also joked about shooting the then Labour leader, Ed Miliband, saying she would become the "perfect shot" if she had "ol' Red Ed to aim at."

When she wrote the posts she was not an elected politician, although she had previously served as a member of the Senedd.

A perfect fit for Reform then. I imagine even the shower of shit that is Welsh Conservatives is quite glad to see the back of her.

Tory Peer Slams Reform Over 'Misinformation' Around Epping Protests With Thinly-Veiled Dig

Baroness Laing did not name the party, but it was pretty clear who she was referring to.

Reform certainly knows what it's doing in picking such a person. Escalating in shock tactics. No coincidence.

I hadn’t realised she had been their MP for 27 years - I suspect she cares a great deal about the people of Epping than the grotty Twitter agitators.

If I posted anything like this on these threads it would be deleted. And rightly so.
A sign of just how far down in the sewers some SM is.

Reform didn't stand there in the last election, clearly not that worried then.
