I've just been in the US. Was heartened by all the anti Trump banners and posters and the two anti Trump protests I saw in little American towns.

Why are there not protests about British Nationals who commit crimes that involve violence against women and children?

I suspect that the people that go on these protests wouldn't, er, like to see that happen...

They pass Reform's vetting process

What does need looking at is sentencing for violent and sexual offending. Particularly against women and girls. Now that is pathetic, and sex offending should be getting you custody. The fact it doesn’t in many cases is outrageous. So too with domestic violence. That isn’t deal with properly either.

Agree with you 100%. The focus shouldn't be on the ethnicity of those who commit the crimes, it should be on ensuring that serious crimes have serious consequences for the offender.

Starmer is. The odd voluntary departure from a visa overstay but we won't deport criminals and failed asylum seekers and hide behind ECHR. It's weak politicians and the worlds softest judges.

Under this government, more people were deported than in any year since 2016. So you are talking nonsense.

It was the previous government who gave nice big handouts of money to the tiny handful of people who volunteered to go to Rwanda. Don't let the facts hit you in the backside on the way out.

This seems fortuitous then. Proposed by Labour, brought forward by Reform. I’m going to suspend a natural and understandable cynicism for now, given the experience claimed by the Reform cabinet member.

Looking at the details of the attendees, Tice is essentially saying White Vangard supporters are decent law abiding British folk?

I was overtaken when in a car (hire car) on holiday doing 70mph by several white vans. I did not look or know who was driving them though.

ECHR is becoming the same red herring as the EU was. Convenient to blame it for the fact we have the weakest politicians and the most liberal judges. There's no political will, so before you know it Nigel Farage is Prime Minister because Starmer the human rights lawyer has no interest in deporting anyone. They'll pay 5 grand for someone to leave after overstaying their visa just to make it look like they're doing something.

We're the joke of the world.

I think you'll find that's America.

With the example of America reverting back to 1930s Germany, you would have to be very hard of thinking to vote for Farage who is keen to follow it.

I don't think that the silent majority is that stupid.

Also, it was the tories that slowed the processing rate of refugees so that they could pay their mates to house them. Labour are actually returning them, without the payments the tories used.

I had to teach my 21 year old about stamps recently.

I hope he or she was not exhausted with the long journey to the nearest post office. Presumably if it was not mysteriously out of order the stamps were bought out of the machine with its twenty steps.

We have a post office! If you count a van for half an hour, first thing Friday and Tuesday lunchtime as a post office.

I am not sure which scheme you are talking about? Voluntary return schemes have existed for over 20 years. Has Starmer introduced a new one?

Here in the cesspit of Labour Run Wales I have two post offices within walking distance.

Awful.

I can buy stamps in the two local Co Ops I can walk to and there's 3 post boxes on the way there. Utterly shocking.

placemats · 21/07/2025 23:30

Also it has been known that there's a service via the Post Office online where they pick up your parcel from your own home. You have to answer the door. Totally awful.

Sometimes they even come on the arranged day.

I had forgotten he existed until this moment.

SerendipityJane · 22/07/2025 08:52

Meanwhile, in the real world, my rather naive Labour MP has - sadly - fucked up big time.

I did complain (passim) about the phone book that I received as a reply to my digital enquiry (cost to the environment = 1/10th a polar bear).

Rather than actually read my complaint, and address it, they brushed me of with a "most people like it, so you can shut up" and just ended with a mealy mouthed "we'll reply to you by email then".

I replied noting the swerve from the point. And have just received a reply which is basically a rephrasing of the previous with a "I am sorry you feel that way" type of preamble.

Oh. Dear. Oh. Dear.

Battle has commenced. I won't rest until I have the exact carbon footprint for each letter, plus an explanation of why I should pay more for my energy just so they can carry on killing the planet.

Front door looks lovely @dontcallmelen !

Reapplying for a postal vote. Bit of a faff, hope it doesn’t put off less tech-minded people who can’t get to the polling station.

LlynTegid · 22/07/2025 19:13

Maybe the return of James Cleverly will mean less airtime for honest Bob.
