Currys sent wrong fridge freezer

Curry’s delivered and installed the correct item but wrong colour. I thought it looked very dark and when you put in the item it’s the black version instead of silver.

Called them up and because the delivery men haven’t entered that it’s been delivered yet we have to wait for that and apparently someone will call us after 7pm.

I also have a freezer of food that will now have to be thrown away.

What are my rights here? Do I have to accept their replacement or can I just ask for a refund?

Good luck OP. The moment you say Indian call centre, it's clear Curry doesn't care. The team will be an outsourced contractor and have no powers and very little tie to the UK operations.

You will never get away with that line. In fact I’d go so far as to say it might even be detrimental to your case if you try it, they’ll think you’re trying it on.

Yes used them twice for a new fridge and washing machine mainly because they always came up cheaper. Connection was also very reasonable. £10 for the fridge freezer and £25 for the washing machine.

@Icebreakhell absolutely though they should refund you. Yes it’s unfortunate that DH for whatever reason wasn’t able to identify it being the wrong colour but to me that’s tough on the company because the buck still stops with them - they still sent out the wrong item!

I’m not sure about the food refund though because as PP said, you’re not meant to use 24 hrs anyway. However, given the stress their error caused you hopefully this massive company will do the decent thing and offer compensation also as a gesture of goodwill. Good luck!

Not quite as important as acquiring and then keeping your money though. As a comparison of the size of teams (and their salaries) involved would show.

From our experience it really wasn't important to them, although when they sent their best team to try to fix the fridge a month later, we saw we were noted as "high risk customer"!

Definitely be careful of them spouting any legal gobbledygook to try to scare you. They were so dodgy, they asked us to get quotes for how much the damaged floor would cost to fix, we did that, they then offered us less than half the cost, quoting made up legal cases. I would have believed it and said to DH perhaps we should take this small amount of money but he knew the cases were BS and wrote a legal looking letter to them. They immediately rolled over and gave us the full amount. Terrible that they do that to their customers, most of whom won't be lawyers and may be intimidated, as I was.

Thanks for posting this - I was going to order our new appliances from Curry's but will use Peter Ledbury instead. It's the total lack of care that is incredible really.

They tried to deliver another 2!! today.

Both were the wrong items again. I think there must be an error on the system.

They’ve taken away the other one and agreed to refund us. Will apparently take 5 working days.

I’ll not buy from them again.
