Which celebrity’s death do you feel shocked at?

I would probably say Robin Williams. Which is probably an obvious one. George Micheal and Bowie also.

Alan Rickman

Oh yes! We should have cancelled Christmas.

Devilsmommy · 30/06/2025 18:29

Dimebag Darryl from the band Pantera. It was a sad day for metal when he was shot on stage

I find it disgusting how people joke about her death

I wasn't aware that they did. How awful.

I knew her at school.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 30/06/2025 18:30

Freddy, Diana, George Michael, John Lennon Bob Marley

ChessorBuckaroo · 30/06/2025 18:32

Amy Winehouse.

Think it was the manner in which I saw it as much as anything. The showbiz section on teletext, just saw Amy Winehouse dead. One of those "no way" moments.

sidebirds · 30/06/2025 18:33

The main one for me was GG Allin

Justfineanddandy · 30/06/2025 18:33

I don’t know if he’s already been mentioned yet - but Michael Mosley - so tragic!!
I’m still a bit surprised at how sad I feel about it!😢

I dealt with Victoria Wood a few times, in a hospitality setting. She was definitely not lovely to me or my colleagues. I was really quite taken aback.

thats disappointing to hear, I was a huge VW fan. What did she do/say @MemorableTrenchcoat ?

ThierryHwasthebest · 30/06/2025 18:33

James Gandolfini
Anthony Bourdain

PoisedGoldBiscuit · 30/06/2025 18:34

Agree with Sean Lock, Avicci, but also Paul Ritter.

defrazzled · 30/06/2025 18:34

I am still shocked by George Michaels death and always end up in tears on Xmas day, tipsy, listening to Last Christmas.

Also Amy Winehouse

Usernamenope · 30/06/2025 18:36

It's the way that some celebrities died that shocked and upset me.

Diana because it was so cruel to be hounded and chased to death.

Mark Speight because it was such a tragic story and I used to watch him on TV as a kid.

Steve Irwin because it was unexpected.

SilviaSnuffleBum · 30/06/2025 18:36

Not shocked, but saddened by the deaths of George Michael, Amy Winehouse and David Bowie.

TwoFeralKids · 30/06/2025 18:37

Alan Rickman.

Floogal · 30/06/2025 18:38

Jade Goody. For the simple fact we both shared the exact same birthday. When I read she was dying I got a chill down my spine.
I also remember feeling angry at the time she was dying and after she passed. The press and general public were fawning over her, yet both parties were very cruel and unforgiving towards her.

Redheadedstepchild · 30/06/2025 18:38

Gene Hackman, Betsy Arakawa and their dog, Zinna. Who knows what was really going on there? Just very tragic.

Victoria Wood. She was so funny and created amazing observational work which made it feel as if she knew me. I grew up watching her and I was very sad there would be no more work from her.

Terry Pratchett. Not unexpected but I was pretty ill with flu at the time and remember sobbing on the sofa.

Totally agree about Victoria Wood - so sad that we would never see anything new from her.
