I could barely sleep and feel groggy now. My teenage dc slept fine! How did you manage?

Er, fine? It wasn't that hot in Leeds, I was still under the duvet (although all windows have been open for weeks now)

beguilingeyes · 20/06/2025 08:49

I sleep under a damp t-shirt when it's like this.

Alwaystired23 · 20/06/2025 08:51

I kept all the curtains and windows closed throughout the day, and opened them about 11 pm before going to bed. Slept fine luckily. It's horrible when you can't sleep because of the heat.

Like the proverbial baby.

BestZebbie · 20/06/2025 08:54

On top of the duvet until I woke up cold and went under it for the rest of the night.

Fuelledbylatte · 20/06/2025 08:57

Fan on all night but stick it in front of open window so it’s drawing in cooler air to circulate

damp towels on head and neck

not nice but just about able to get enough sleep!

clinellwipe · 20/06/2025 08:59

It was 30 degrees in our bedrooms last night. 3.5 year old was wide awake 1.30am-5.00am !! Utterly grim …

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 20/06/2025 08:59

I've got blackout blinds in my east facing window so I'm not up at 4 am but it has the annoying effect the it kills any breeze. I've got the air purifier to keep the pollen and hay fever at bay. I have a fan going in an effort to direct some of the cooler air from the landing and I've bought an oodie cooling blanket - which is absolutely garish but is pretty effective. I feel like things may have gone too far but I did seven hours sleep.

StarCourt · 20/06/2025 08:59

woke up every couple of hrs all night. Window open, fan on, cotton nightwear and bedding

wordywitch · 20/06/2025 09:01

I keep the curtains and windows shut in my bedroom during the day, then about 9pm I go and open up the windows and French doors to let the cooler air in, with a fan circulating. Then close doors when I’m ready for sleep and leave the fan running directed at me all night. I sleep in just a sports bra and underwear and with my feet out of the summer weight duvet. Seems to do the trick as I sleep well.

Fearfulsaints · 20/06/2025 09:05

We do the windows and curtains closed in the day, windows open again as soon as outside is cooler and have a ceiling fan. It is about 22 degrees by the time I go to bed and goes down to 20. It's warm but ok.

I slept fine.

IHadaMarvelousTimeRuiningEverything · 20/06/2025 09:15

Terrible. Didn't sleep until about 1am and then woken up by my 4 year old at 5.45am this morning. It's going to be a long day.

Ilovelowry · 20/06/2025 09:17

Brilliantly. All windows open wide at 9pm and asleep by 9.15 under the duvet.

Live in a valley so the cold air sinks into the dip. South Coast.

Meadowmew · 20/06/2025 09:20

Like a baby
I open all windows as soon as I get up,
Close blinds/curtains on sides of the house the sun will hit in the afternoon.
Cool shower before bed.
Fan goes on in my bedroom in the evening, and I leave bedroom windows open overnight.
Drink loads of water.

last proper heatwave we had I would dampen and freeze a thin sheet and hang over DDs window, the breeze coming through that was lovely! Her room is tiny and like a little oven!
You can put your pillowcases in the freezer too!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 20/06/2025 09:21

I can’t sleep when it’s too hot.

I bought an aircon unit a few years ago and it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made. I slept really well last night.

Boredlass · 20/06/2025 09:29

I sleep with a fan right next to me all the time so I was fine

maddiemookins16mum · 20/06/2025 09:31

I took a while to nod off but next thing I knew it was 6am. Plus I had socks on as had put some heavy duty foot stuff on my heels.

GameOfJones · 20/06/2025 09:33

Absolutely fine. The window was fully open and I slept just in a pair of knickers on top of the covers so I wasn't overly hot. In the heatwave when temperatures got to 35 or more a couple of years ago I did the same but laid a damp flannel on my chest before going to sleep.

babystarsandmoon · 20/06/2025 09:34

I slept great. I was up and feeling refreshed at 7.

InMySpareTime · 20/06/2025 09:34

Really well, first night in a new bed and it’s such a relief after weeks of being woken by the bed creaking every time anyone moved.
I slept in until almost 6, which is great for this time of year.

TizerorFizz · 20/06/2025 09:35

Absolutely fine. Windows open and fan on. One blind down but the other up to let in any breeze!

Our bedrooms were 30 as well love summer but wish the nights were cooler

SunPerson · 20/06/2025 09:38

It was warmer than usual, but not uncomfortable.

One of the pros about living in a draughty Victorian house - it’s lovely and cool all through the summer.

We got in from the school run yesterday and the kids were literally sighing in relief, my dd actually lay on the tiled floor in the hall 😂

dottiedodah · 20/06/2025 09:39

Utterly shocking! Our bedroom faces south, and we have mattress toppers which make the bed hotter in summer . Last night collapsed with exhaustion at 9 pm (DH playing football!) woke up at 11 pm .Awake to 3 am.

CozyCoupe · 20/06/2025 09:39

Get an aircon unit. A decent one really makes a significant difference.
