I could barely sleep and feel groggy now. My teenage dc slept fine! How did you manage?

Nobody slept well last night little ones kept waking up every hour or so.

Middlemarch123 · 20/06/2025 18:46

Slept well, quiet fan on, cooling blanket, cats snoozed on their cooling pillow!

Happyher · 20/06/2025 18:48

Naked with no duvet, tied hair up. Windows open and blind closed

I never sleep badly. Always get my 7-8 hours, and in warmer weather I’ll stick the fan on . More for the dog than for me. My house is pretty hot though (not complaining , cheaper energy) so in really hot weather I might dampen a towel to sleep under. Nowhere near that yet though.

SheSpeaks · 20/06/2025 18:49

I slept fine. I had my pyjamas on, was under a wool blanket with the windows closed, and I don’t have/use a fan. I did try to sleep in a vest and PJ bottoms instead of long sleeves but had to get up and change into sleeves because I was too cold.

Fan on all night but stick it in front of open window so it’s drawing in cooler air to circulate

damp towels on head and neck

not nice but just about able to get enough sleep!

This is great but how do you keep it dark if you do this. I want to do this but feel my curtains would have to be open

whatcanthematterbe81 · 20/06/2025 18:52

Also I panic about spiders coming in with window open. I’m such a wimp 😂

CiaoMeow · 20/06/2025 18:55

Can't sleep when it's too hot. I took a tea towel to bed to wipe my face! I cannot stand a sweating face!!!😂

Fantastically. We had an air con unit fitted at the top of the stairs last year. Worth every penny

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 20/06/2025 19:01

Really badly. Under a fan, windows open.
6 year old attached to me like a limpet 🥵

Lemonsugarpancake · 20/06/2025 19:02

I wasn't hot. I open all the windows wide in late evening, then leave them all ajar overnight. We're north facing though which is miserable in winter but perfect in summer.

SparklyGlitterballs · 20/06/2025 19:05

I have an aircon unit that my late DH bought several years ago. It's large, and noisy, but bloody hell it works well. I've been sleeping with just a sheet over me but last night had to put my thin quilt back on as the unit froze me out.

CeaselesslyIntoThePast · 20/06/2025 19:08

Aircon is cheap guys.

Pollqueen · 20/06/2025 19:12

Great. Draw your bedroom curtains early afternoon then open windows when you go to bed and have a fan

I will have to try some of these tips. I can’t sleep with a fan on though. It distracts me too much.

I used to live in a Victorian terrace and pp is right that it was cool but my current house is a small modern terrace and it gets the sun all day long so we are boiling!

A fan is white noise. You get used to it and it becomes soothing. I usually can't sleep with any noise at all, but I've trained myself to sleep to the whirr of air con or a fan

Draw them using clothes pegs around the fan but also a sleep mask is useful

My DH is slowly coming round to the idea of AC and so we need to think of where to have it, I’ve not thought of having it at the top of the stairs
