The bemusement in the voice of the news journalist on Sky as he reports on the ceasefire/fake war must be a world first.

On an expat chat group in the ME, someone said that if oil price doesn't fall significantly, it's not a real war. There was only a little movement on world markets.

Another cynic would say that some people made a lot of money yesterday.

Good to hear that the bombings have ceased (for now) but, like many others, my cynical side wonders about the somewhat staged nature of the last few days. Lives may have been lost, but that's never been a concern for Netanyahu or the Ayatollah and Trump just doesn't have the bandwidth to understand armed conflict. He's going to strut around the NATO Summit today and think he's 'The Man'. Iran will bide its time now and the rest of the western world is still a target.

I read some interesting stuff last night before going to sleep, about the Iranians having warned Qatar well in advance because this is all a show, but I can’t remember where I saw it. (Which I think #47 must have referred to in the word salad someone quoted above last night, but I refuse to read or listen to him so I may have that wrong). Does anyone know any more about this, please? I’ve skimmed through last night’s posts here but I may have missed it.

Israel says they will respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire.

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom Iran alerted Qatar well in advance, they cleared the base, Iran bombed but no casualties and Qatar was able to say that their air defences held.
Similarly, Iran told about forthcoming bombing, so moved their nuclear material and equipment well in advance. I'm now a total cynic about the reasons for the whole thing.
